I just upgraded to a much mores powerful computer so now I can actually play the game at full speed and good Elder God does that feel nice! Although I also just found out the Kombat Pack 2 isn't getting released on PC, which is a massive disappointment. I hope it's only temporary 'cuz it'd really suck to have PC players get screwed.

Wouldn't be the first time WB Games gave PC owners the shaft.

Wouldn't be the first time WB Games gave PC owners the shaft. My understanding is the decision was Netherrealm Studio's, but it was related to Warner Bros. problems and lack of support for Arkham Knight's PC dev team, and they decided they'd rather not release it than release it and it not work correctly.

Still seems really weird. I mean, the game works... why wouldn't the DLC work? Especially since it's been fine so far.

Got the game the other day and trying to unlock the various bullshit online only skins that serve only to piss me the f*** off. Is there anyone online for this damn game who isn't a massive prick?

What were the specs of the older PC hardware you used to run the game? I'm curious b/c I haven't yet tried MKX, but I have an older Phenom II-based CPU. My graphics card is pretty good and could easily render MK9 at the highest settings w/out performance hits. (It's an AMD Radeon HD 7870 with 2 GB of VRAM - pretty much the same thing as an AMD R9 270.)

Don't remember exactly but to give you an idea, it was an over 4 years old laptop that wasn't even top of the line back then. It had 6 Go of RAM and used AMD Radeon HD 7640G + HD 7670M Dual Graphics. It did run MKX, but I had to fiddle with the settings so it only used hardware acceleration and even then, it wasn't at full speed, it was very unstable with frequent slowdowns and the driver had a tendency to crash.

To be fair I've heard the PC version's generally like that for a lot of people no matter what version they're using. Consensus is it's a pretty terrible port. Which is odd to me. Great game to be sure, but I don't see much about it that should be all that taxing on the hardware or anything that should get in the way of running fine on the PC or have gotten in the way of the 360 / PS3 ports. Doesn't really do anything not done by 9 or Injustice.

It is worth remembering that the PC port of MKX wasn't done by the same team behind the Xbone/PS4 version, High Voltage Software ( who have a development history which is pretty hit or miss in terms of quality) developed it and the cancelled 360/PS3 ports.

Ah, nevermind. You really can't compare desktop specs (mine) to laptop specs (yours). Our CPU and GPU could have the exact same specs on paper, but mine would blow yours out of the water in terms of actual performance because compromises are always made when power and mobility are factored into the design of mobile hardware.

The game was developed almost 10 years ago, and although it is a great game, it was so poorly optimized that it's STILL impossible to run at max settings without experiencing performance hits, even on top-of-the-line, cutting edge hardware that is far more advanced than anything on the market during the time of the game's development. All Cry-Engine games (Titles in the Crysis and Far Cry series) are like that, just not on such an absurd scale as the original Crysis.

Higher-res textures, more particles, more detailed models and maps and IIRC correctly, it adds new elements like sweat and stuff which are presumably their own texture maps and put more strain on the system.
