You could have The Thing as one of the characters and have his default form be, I dunno, Palmer or whichever actor would consent to give his likeness. You could get so creative with the special moves and fighting styles, let alone the fatalities. ET's fatality would be phoning home, and having his spaceship land on his opponent.

Gotta say, Bo Rai Cho looks way more fun to play as than I thought he'd be. Yeah, there's still puking, farting, burping, and moves based on his stomach, but at least those moves serve a gameplay purpose other than "look at how gross this character is".

I'll be glad when Rain is added in. His moves when fighting him in Story Mode looked sick. Also still want Kabal, Stryker, and Sindel added.

I've playing this again after stopping for a while and this game is still fun as hell but man, I forgot how tough the AI actually is. And don't get me wrong I like it. It's not like in MK3 where it was difficult because it was cheap and the AI blatantly used input-reading. I guess it's a good way to train as even just on hard difficulty, I have a a hard time winning more than two fights in a row. Surprisingly, one of the characters I'm doing best with is Mileena, a character I've never used all that much in previous games.
Also, hitting a brutality on Goro is so satisfying.

Also, surely I'm not the only experiencing some really annoying random crashes? It keeps telling me that my drivers have stopped working, which causes the game to either crash to desktop of freeze and I have to kill the process to quit. I'm using AMD Radeon HD 7640G + HD 7600M Dual Graphics drivers and they do seem to be up to date so I don't know what's going on, especially since it didn't do that back when I first installed the game.

I'm quite happy with how Bo turned out. The main thing I wanted from him was to show that he was someone capable of training Liu Kang, while also having a Brad Wong-esque drunk style. With the fireballs and flying kick, and the clever drunk mechanic, that's done, and while the grossout elements remain, at least they're not all he has going for him. His specials look pretty neat, and Bartitsu is a great choice of fighting style, even beyond the pun.

Bo looks hilarious (in a good way) and the Drunken Master mechanic is actually really unique and clever IMO. The grossout elements were never going to go away but they definitely feel a bit more moderated this time.

Finished MKXL's story mode today. Will go through the tower and stuff in time.
There's some cool things I took from story mode that could make Mortal Kombat 11 really interesting (That post-credits scene with Raiden in the Netherrealm was awesome). The Special Forces characters need to go away forever though. There's a cool setup of Liu Kang & Kitana as rulers of the Netherrealm and the idea that Raiden is not gonna put up with any shenanigans now. And quite where Scorpion goes from here might be interesting too.
Cassie Cage is such a Mary Sue it's not even funny. Like I said, I could quite happily go into the next MK game never seeing her or her parents again.

The XL update got me kind of addicted again, and I haven't even bought the new characters yet. Played through story mode again, redid a bunch of ladders, and even started playing the mobile game to unlock as many skins as I can. It's repetitive, but decent enough for mobile.
I think the best thing about these last few games is that it seems like the future of the franchise is assured. They're no longer an also-ran compared to Street Fighter, they're a respected franchise with tons of content compared to the minimal efforts Capcom are putting out, and a really solid developing story. Netherrealm have shown they're capable of taking what worked from the less celebrated games while getting rid of the chaff, while also being making really fantastic new storylines and characters.
Shao Kahn is followed by Shinnok's invasion, but rather than being a disappointing followup, this time he's been manipulating events since the beginning and his invasion is genuinely a threat. You've got the next generation of Shaolin, but Kung Jin's way more interesting than Kai. Liu Kang dies and becomes a walking corpse, but he's not a mindless zombie resurrected by Raiden, he's the disillusioned lord of the Netherrealm and Raiden's biggest threat. I hope the next game does build on the original stuff and have the focus be on Kang/Kitana as the new continuity's 'Deadly Alliance' rather than skipping ahead to Onaga.

Finally got round to trying out the 4 new charcaters and the Pit stage, they are all pretty decent. Think I'll be using Tri-Borg the most just because of the versatile nature of being a 4 in 1 character. Bo Rai Cho is also well put together and good to use. Leatherface is interesting but a tad bland moves wise (there is only so much you can do with a chainsaw.) Alien I've used the least probably because I just find it a bit too humanoid also it needed a bigger head.

So as well as the Pit, The Cove and Special Firces stage got fatalities too which is cool. Nothing like watching Quan Chi get shot to death or Jax killed by a giant squid.

11 needs to bring back Jade and show why she wasn't one of Quan Chi's servants he used, perhaps something to do with her ending in MK9? As well as Smoke's human form with him now calling himself Enenra.
Bring back Nightwolf as well
