Seems like they've taken the Old El Paso approach to deciding between Cyrax, Sektor and Smoke... Why not all of them?

Retold the first three games, but with added details and twists thanks to past Raiden receiving a message from a dying Raiden from the end of MK: Armageddon where Shao Kahn won. It's also where we found out Cyrax used to be Kofi Kingston.

Xenomorph/Baraka hybrid looks great. His story should be of interest, too.

As long as Bo Rai' Cho is more then just puking and flaming farts, then I'm okay with it.

So... will there be a new story mode or are the CGI scenes just for the trailer? Also, it's a nice pack but I'd really rather have more Mortal Kombat characters than more horror characters. I'd easily trade Leatherface for having Sektor and Cyrax be separate characters. I mean, we can't have Baraka in this game but we can have Alien-Baraka? Why? If WB/Netherrealms Studios want to make a horror fighting game, just do it (and in fact, that would be pretty awesome so yeah, go ahead and do that). OK then. I've only just come on board for this game, so I was unaware there was essentially a retcon somewhere along the line. The 2011 (I think that was the year) Mortal Kombat game was a reboot in a way. It's also where we found out Cyrax used to be Kofi Kingston. I think Cyrax's human appearance has been canon for a while now (I remember an old promo picture showing Cyrax still had a human head inside the helmet and it was a Black man). As long as Bo Rai' Cho is more then just puking and flaming farts, then I'm okay with it. Yeah, I don't mind them pulling the ol' "perverted older master" thing as long as it's still believable that they can be or at least used to be powerful. In fact, a wise master with some guilty pleasures could retroactively make Liu Kang a bit more interesting. But Bo Rai' Cho as he's been depicted in the original timeline had NOTHING other than being gross. That was his entire personality. And we're supposed to believe that guy trained clean-cut and boring Liu Kang?

I'm going to make a wild guess that people are bitching about there being Bo Rai Cho but no Baraka or Rain.
Personally I think this is actually a pretty decent pack, and we can actually get Alien vs Predator.. That's pretty cool.
They should try and get Freddie Krueger back in than you have all the horror icons in one game.
Myers and Alien aren't talking characters so I don't expect their pre fight banter to be all exciting, especially when fighting against each other or Jason and Predator.

As with others in this thread, I like the idea of Bo Rai' Cho, just not the original execution, so if they can have him as a drunken master without relying entirely on grossout humor, count me in.
The Xenomorph hybrid is interesting, and Leatherface... what happens if you knock the chainsaw out of his hands?

From what I remember one of his alternate attires in a game was maskless... also I believe his mask was off in an ending to a game.

I have faith they'll make Bo Rai Cho a lot cooler this time, given the sheer amount of personalized moves and animations.

If they limited the puke based stuff to a single fighting style, had one be full on drunken fighting style in the Brad Wong sense, and the third be Shaolin-based to show how he trained Liu Kang and Kung Lao, that'd be an incredible character.
And count me in as thinking that implementing Baraka's moves with the Xenomorph is far more interesting than bringing Baraka back for no reason. He was pretty dull by this point, the dumb muscle before you fight anyone important, his moveset the only thing that saved him from obscurity.

It can't talk or really have a story and it's obviously not gonna be canon. Baraka has the advantage of, you know, actually being a Mortal Kombat character and they could have used that opportunity to develop him. Plus, with Tanya, Tremor, Stryker, Smoke, etc... making formerly dull characters interesting is what both this game and MK9 have been doing.

I will make the wild guess that once again Shinnok will be the only regular Mk fighter who knows who Xenomorph and Leatherface are. Being the secret horror movie geek he truly is

The alien will have a bunch of unique moves and references that should make it really neat to play with, as well as the Baraka classics that made him fun to play as. There should be some pretty awesome fatalities, too. They've done an amazing job with all the guest characters thus far, and this just makes it more familar a play style to fans of the classics. Certainly more interesting than "Hey, remember Baraka? He was pretty cool in 1993, right?". If MK9 couldn't make him interesting, I don't see why MKX would.

Aww. I wanted Li Mei. Her design looked awesome in MKX and she was fun to play as in the older games. Plus maybe she can get an ending that isn't Screwed Over or Screwing Everyone Else Over.

All of that you could say about Baraka as well. I just don't get the point of mixing the two. It feels like we're just gonna end up with something that's not quite a Xenomorph and not quite Baraka and therefore doesn't live up to the potential of either. Certainly more interesting than "Hey, remember Baraka? He was pretty cool in 1993, right?". If MK9 couldn't make him interesting, I don't see why MKX would. Pretty sure people still like Baraka and the reason he came off so badly in MK9 is that they didn't really write him into the story, he was just there to job to the heroes. Again, not something that's going to improve by having him still do nothing and then be replaced by a character irrelevant to the game's universe. Also, he was still fun to play as so if they took the opportunity to actually do something with him they could make him far more interesting.
