Definitely the Goonies.
Besides the Movie I also spent what must have been hours playing Goonies 2 for the NES
Also my brother swears he saw the octopus scene on tv at one point...
But everywhere I've seen always says that it was cut and never shown, but my brother swears one broadcast version had it to fill time from all of the stuff they cut out... and I do vaguely remember what he was talking about.
Data, I think, falls in the water and gets attacked by an octopus some time in the pirate ship cave and he does something with his walkman that causes the octopus to get scared off

Goonies, easily, though I like both. That second gif is a great reaction gif.

Stand by Me was on TV all the time as a kid so that wins as it was a bigger part of my childhood in that respect.
In fact I'd say in all respects as I like the movie better in general, tho both are great.

I think Goonies represented the innocence of youth while Stand By Me represented the coming of age. Both had their great moments and will live on for decades but I prefer Goonies for a more enjoyable story and along with the outside factors of Cyndi Lauper's involvement and the wrestling connection. Until the dvd came out, I never knew there was a music video featuring wrestlers. I think Goonies and the factors surrounding it (popular singer, popular entertainment company) make it one of the premier movies of the 80s time period.
