I recently got the Best Of In Your House DVD, and just finished this match.
It's a absolutely fantastic match, but one thing about it always bothered me about it: the DQ finish.
Was Vader early with the run in? I just don't get the reason for the DQ. Shawn jumped off a pre-set chair to deliver a jumping Sweet Chin Music into a a chair which hit Mankind in the face and knocked him off the top rope into the ring.
That would have been the perfect ending to the match. Was it supposed to protect Mankind? If it was, I'm not so sure how well that worked.

Foley has never said why it ended that way, only he didn't like it and thought it sucked, but it should detract from the rest of the match, which was fantastic. It was ten seconds of suck, the rest was amazing.

Booking was kind of a mess at the time, but it was definitely meant to protect Mick while not giving the title to him. He got to slap the mandible claw on after the match to show that he COULD have won had he locked it on, and Mankind was in the middle of his feud with Undertaker, so winning the title would have not been in the cards, anyway.

Foley had beaten the Undertaker twice on PPV without suffering a loss and due to face him in the blow-off at Survivor Series so they were protecting Taker by not having Foley lose.
Vader was late, not early, he should have broken up the pin rather than having HBK have to voluntarily break it himself.

Oh and Mozenrath, booking at the time made far more sense and was better planned than today.

This might be the best match I've ever seen. It has everything, technical stuff, brawling, psychology, high spots, characters and showmanship. This is what wrestling should be all about. What an incredible match it is.

I actually thought it worked out better the way it happened, but as it plays out, it looks like Shawn saw Vader coming, and then just focused on him instead of Mankind. Still a fantastic match with a horrible finish.

Overrated as a match really. Bit dull and has Michaels in control for most of it when really, should have been the other way round.

What I love most about this match is the pace. Everything moves along really nicely. There's not a lot of contrived set ups for spots or drawn out selling and drama milking moments. It's as realistic as a match with a back suplex turned into a crossbody off the top rope through the announce table can be. Matches like that hit the line between sports and entertainment perfectly.

This match had some really innovative and creative ways of switching the momentum between Foley and Michaels. When compared to a lot of matches in the years leading up to it in the WWF, and looking at later matches, I think it paved the way in a lot of respects.

It's an early sign to the booking style of Attitude Era matches.
