arguably Cena's best wrestling match at a Wrestlemania. This match was to never even happened. I ask this, who was Shawn Michaels supposed to face at Mania 23?

Eddie died in 2005, Mania 23 was in 2007.

I watched this last night and at several times during the match, it sounded like the audio dropped out a bit and WWE removed something. I found the match on YouTube and, well, {Spoiler}{Spoiler}WWE removed all mentions of "the FU" and "the STFU."
*sigh* Really, WWE? Really? (I put this in a spoiler for those who haven't seen the show yet.)

Triple H would've had to go over at 23 or else I don't see the point of doing the rematch.

The audio editing's awful. And the problem with this match is that John completely forgets to sell the leg.

One of the first moments where people started to think Cena could work.

Finally getting around to this, how in the hell do they talk to so many people about this but not talk to Triple H? You got Vince, Steph, Jericho, f***ing Miz and Seth Green of all people but not Hunter?!

This was a tremendous match that doesn't get nearly enough love. Their match in London on Raw was amazing, but this match is just as good imo.

Am I alone in thinking HBK should have won here? Not that he needed it, but Cena was well cemented as the guy here so they didn't need to put him over here either. But I guess the my main gripe with the decision that for all purposes gave us the same mania ending/moment two years in a row. Cena retaining the belt via STF? I guess if Taker/Batista main evented, I would have no issues with Cena winning

The audio editing's awful. And the problem with this match is that John completely forgets to sell the leg. That is one of those things that might have bothered me more if he was facing anyone else. HBK is INCREDIBLY guilty of this, particularly in his second run, given how much people worked his back in those matches to play off of his back injury... only for him to kip up and completely ruin the point of it. I guess it's less egregious to me when both guys are terrible with consistency.

The audio editing's awful. And the problem with this match is that John completely forgets to sell the leg. He does sell it............in the most light-showing manner, really. After the better part of 10 minutes building on the leg, Cena pips up, does this odd flex of his calf, as though to give cursory reference to the what we've just been watching and then just rushes into his turn. It's like two different matches butchered on the slab, drilled together and hoped a 'Mania main came out. I think their short run together is somewhat overrated. The London match has the double-bind of them pacing, holding-out for an hour, whilst also actively trying not to fall into PPV tropes, lest they be given away for free, therefore sticking another level of conservatism on top of it; it's a very fine match, but I'd stick it in the 'notable' category, rather than list it as 'all-time best'.
