I understand that the kayfabe idea of the nWo was to 'take over' dubya C dubya, but what was the plan supposed to be beyond that? I guess in the beginning, they were supposed to just be thinly veiled WWF wrestlers taking over, but soon enough, they had seemingly 100s of members from WCW as well. They weren't going to wrestle themselves. Call me dumb, but considering it's probably the greatest angle ever, I could never figure out what they were ultimately supposed to be doing.

I believe the nWo's master plan was to invite dozens of people nobody really cared about into the group and stand around a whole lot.

I think they were supposed to become a seperate Federation in and of themselves.
So yes, they would have eventually had their own show and stuff, that didn't pull through so they stood around...
And ran in on matches... a lot.

I had a pretty reliable source tell me that the original plan was for the NWO to take over WCW completely and control the show as "n.W.o. Nitro." When the infamous NWO Nitro night didn't pan out so well, they scrapped the idea. When you think about it, though, its a pretty stupid idea. Spelled out it would say New World Order Monday Nitro. You kinda lose the "Wrestling" part of the name.

Yeah, basically that was it. Eric Bischoff wanted to replace WCW with his nWo gang, but the ratings for nWo Nitro dropped (both times), so the plan was thrown on the scrap-heap.

Well they wanted to take over WCW. What happened was instead of being boo 'ed, they were cheered, so with that plus WCW constantly being made look like a fool week after week, it doesn't really do wonders for you're name brand now does it?
[mark rant]Of course, that is until there was the bullshit nWo Wolfpac which sole purpose was to sell t-shirts to the little kiddies, and the nWo became a self parody of itself, with members like Lugar and Sting joining. [/mark rant]
Ultimate plan at the start? Probably something ending in a huge battle which if WCW won, the nWo would be disbanded forever, and if nWo won, they would take over 100%.

I wish the nWo had been disbanded after Starrcade 97, you could've still had "Hollywood" Hogan and maybe Nash/Hall together, but not as the nWo, the other members would either go their own seperate ways or even feud with each other.

Speaking of the nWo - what was the ultimate plan for the nWo in WWE? They were Vince McMahon's... [glow=red,2,300] LETHAL DOSE...OF POIIIIIISSSSSSSSSENNNNNN[/glow] ...but never really interacted with Vince and apart from running into Rock with a truck didn't really do anything major to the company.

I blame it on the fact that the WWE added one of the guys, who while in the WCW, NEVER would have joined the nWo(Booker T)
Yeah...thats what I blame it on...

Man the nWo could have been the greatest storyline ever if they would have just ended it at the right time...
It was great for a while, and I would have had no problem with SOME WCW people joining because thats part of taking over...taking the other guys resources. The nWo should have started falling apart a few months before Starcade 97 and it should have ended completly when Sting beat Hogan(cleanly). They could have done something like have whats left of the nWo standing on the ramp to come help Hogan late into the match, but then they all tear off they're nWo shirts and walk back up the ramp. Then the next night they could have revealed that by then they knew they were defeated, and with the addition of Bret Hart to WCW they had no chance.
And after that, Kevin, Hall, and Hogan could have been taken off screen for a while. And the nWo should have NEVER been reformed.
The Wolfpac/nWo storyline could have been done in 97 and could have been part of the "falling apart" thing that I mentioned earlier. Sting of course wouldnt be in it though. Maybe since Hall and Nash could have been it, been beat by the nWo in some "Losing Team Leaves" match and that could be how Nash and Hall went out. Then of course the stuff that I mentioned earlier woudl happen...
Anyway if it woulda just ended around Starcade 97 it would deffinatly be the greatest storyline ever...I just think the way I woulda ended it would have been cool...

I think this may be why the NWO story was doomed from the get go. At its root, it made no sense.
It made sense that Hall and Nash and Hogan would want to form a stable and dominate WCW. And maybe they could even call doing that "taking over" in a figurative sense. That's all well and good. And that's all it was at first.
Then it became something so strange and stupid. Obviously, unless the NWO members wanted to buy out WCW, buy their TV contract with TNT, etc, then they could not literally "take over". Who was going to write the paychecks? DiBiase? Who wrote the NWO's paychecks?
The goal made no sense, and so I think it was hard for people to really care about whether they achieved it or not. This is unlike the Austin/McMahon feud, where both sides had realistic ambitions, Austin to foil and humiliate McMahon and vice versa.

As an added gripe to the Booker nWo thing they broke up Bookerdust to make it happen. I was a very sad mark that monday. Not really, he still teamed with Goldust even when he was part of the nWo, which was the reason why the rest of the guys kicked him out. Then, after he was gone, Bookerdust resumed their crazy antics, and on a side note, Goldust needs to be brought back.

For an angle as great as NWO, they sure did have some crap in it. NWO Monday Nitro with the wide angle camera shots, Bischoff's stupid talk show, Sting/Hogan was completely f-ed up. What about when Hogan and Bischoff took over The Tonight Show I wonder what Johnny Carson thought of that!

I would have liked seeing the nWo (the WWECW remix) go exactly like this...
"Mr. McMahon, what about hiring the nWo" - Lackey "YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUR FIIIIIIIIIIRED!" - Vince "What?" - Lackey "No seriously though, your fired. Pack your shit. Security will escourt you out" - Vince
