Stalling and arguing with the crowd, feet on ropes during pin, after getting out wrestled by a face the heel would say screw this and leave, getting wins by count out victories, slapping the ref to get disqualified to keep their title, hiding by behind their female manager.

Pretending to leave the ring and go back to the dressing room because he's had enough (after the first move he took)

Pinning an opponent and then lifting up their shoulder so the heel can beat on them some more. Rusev should do this. It's been so long that a lot of younger fans haven't ever seen it. I always liked the back rake -- Hogan used it as a face and heel, but it's just such a great move, imagine what Sheamus' back would look like with the streaks down it. Also, the ref-distracted low blow.

Another thing - and it's sort of been mentioned - heels letting the crowd's booing and jeering get to them. They do their promo, the fans are booing and they just stop in the middle of it and go off on the crowd.
I swear. During promos especially, faces and heels alike don't even act like there's a live crowd anymore.

The way that The Genius would enter the ring in his match in the 1990 Rumble. Roly polys over the bottom rope, leaning backwards instead of bending forwards when you're going through the top and second ropes...
Just watch the match. It would only work with a camp heel, but man alive, it was excellent. Getting heel heat just for getting in the ring. Superb.

During promos especially, faces and heels alike don't even act like there's a live crowd anymore. The two best "breakout" stars in the past two years are Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt and they both almost exclusively talk to the audience instead of talk to the TV and they have become huge. Paul Heyman also talks to the audience and gets great reactions. It isn't rocket science to get a reaction from a crowd - interact.

But if felt like we went through this near decade long stretch where the wrestlers practically ignored the live crowd. Nobody screams at fans during their ring entrance, rips up signs, etc. I miss that stuff.

Either that or they love her female Roderick Strong thing with never ending back breakers.

This thread is just making me sad. Heels could be so much better at actually being heels if they put more work into getting the fans to hate them. I can barely remember the last time a heel used illegal tactics to win a match. It certainly is a lot less common. It would not hurt them to have Rybaxel cheat to win against Goldust and (insert wrestler).

I love this kind of stuff but people usually complain when heels cheat and are constantly "Ugh, just let him work a match. Why is he cheating? He's a good wrestler let him go out there and wrestle this is stupid."

Demanding the ref pat down their opponent before starting the match. Ducking between the ropes to cut off a face's rally. Any kind of stalling, really. I can understand why WWE doesn't allow if often, because (broadcast) time is money, but having a wrestler delay a match is one of the best ways to get heat.
I do love the beg for mercy spot. When was the last time someone did it in WWE? Not an authority figure or manager type, but a "real" wrestler?

During promos especially, faces and heels alike don't even act like there's a live crowd anymore. Brock Lesnar, of all people, used to be great at this. He'd talk, people would boo him, he'd get the most dour, pissy look on his face and start hopping around angrily and scream at the crowd to stop, which of course made it twice as loud.

It would not hurt them to have Rybaxel cheat to win against Goldust and (insert wrestler). It's always with a "THUMB TO THE EYE!" or something if they do cheat to win. It works but at the same time, it feels like too clean of a win. We see eye rakes all the time. I like when guys would hit the trifecta: distract ref, low blow, pin with feet on the ropes. If you're gonna cheat, cheat hard.
