Go is pretty 90s. Very dated but one of my favourite movies nonetheless. Sarah Polley is awesome. Love this movie. Anytime I mention it to somebody they never heard of it.

I feel like Mortal Kombat is pretty damn 90s. From being based off of one of, if not the most popular game franchise of the 90s, to the way the movie looks(dat mid-90s GGI), the way the fight scenes play out, the plot, dialogue, etc feels like a movie that only could have been made and released in the 90s.

After reading this thread earlier today, I went to the movie theater. Afterwards, I stopped by in the small shop area, and noticed a bunch of movie-related postcards. For some reason, one of them was this poster. I'm pretty sure I'd never heard of that movie until today.

If I was the only arbiter I'd say Those 2 films might represent the early- to mid-90s, but not the late 90s, which is when things started to suck.

Early '90s: Singles, Mid '90s: Clueless, Late '90s: you can debate between She's All That/Can't Hardly Wait/Drive Me Crazy

Demolition Man. Even though it was set in the future this movie just oozed 90s. Wesley Snipes with blonde hair, that's all I need to say.

I think this thread begs the question about what makes a movie more 90s than another? Is it a movie that exemplifies the culture of the decade or an iconic movie from the decade?

I think this thread begs the question about what makes a movie more 90s than another? Is it a movie that exemplifies the culture of the decade or an iconic movie from the decade? For me, it's more the former, because the latter can be more timeless. It'd be like saying the Lord of the Rings movies exemplified the 2000s just because they were a huge deal then. It doesn't feel right.

It doesn't feel right. Exactly. If you watch Jurassic Park, yes you can tell that it was released in 1993 because of some of the fashion and pop culture references that are in the movie. However, the story and what makes the movie so great transcend when it originally was released. However, take a movie like Mortal Kombat and you're just sitting there thinking, "Man, could this movie BE anymore '90s?" due to the tropes it uses, and how the film is structured along with what people are wearing, saying, etc.
