Ambrose is in the same vein as Terry Funk in that he just gets wrestling in a way that most people don't. His selling, his facial expressions, the energy that he puts into every little movement, he's a guy that stands out on pretty much any show he's on just because of how great he is.
If Ambrose isn't a top guy for years to come, there's something seriously wrong.

Ambrose is the only reason I cared about The Shield. To be honest, when the Shield first debuted I was ecstatic because it was a cool platform for Dean, knowing little of Rollins and even less of Roman's work, but very quickly was turned around and loved all three due to there great match psychology that emphasized teamwork and strategy, while still having very distinct personalities. Now that Dean doesn't have to hold back he's standing out big time, but, that shouldn't take away from the hard work Rollins and Reigns put into making the Shield the faction it was.

Oh for sure, The Shield never had a bad match. Any time they laced up their boots you knew you were going to get a great match. I was just never emotionally invested in them, which is why I was happy when Seth shattered the stable. When Shield and the Wyatts locked-up I picked my side and I was firmly on the side of the Wyatts.

I didn't hear the crowds getting "whipped into a frenzy" on Monday. I've seen no evidence that he understands psychology. All he's done is talk in a weird voice, make goofy faces and be lucky enough to be put in a can't miss gimmick. You know, I've seen you shoot down any praise for Ambrose in this whole thread, but could you humor those who disagree with you for a moment and outline at least one of two genuine things that would make you warm up to him? You can't possibly think he has zero talent (as key veterans like Regal and Foley acknowledge that he's talented), so in what context could you see him as believable? What advice would you give him if you were the booker? I'm not trying to be a jerk, but whenever I come across people in threads that are so steadfastly against a performer/character, I get kind of curious as to what would make the person appreciate the character in question's talent. Are you up to that challenge? I do think he has talent, just not enough to deserve the amount of praise he's getting. In the ring I wouldn't change much, but he needs to stop that Diva like flailing, and come up with some more recognizable spots (and get Adam Rose to stop doing such a similar finisher). As for his delivery, I'd want him to tone done the silly faces and overacting a bit. Or give him an over the top gimmick to match his style. BTW, I'm not "shooting down any praise" just sharing my opinion of him, which is going to conflict with fans of his.

I do think he has talent, just not enough to deserve the amount of praise he's getting. Well, but here's the problem. Once you start thinking of a dude based on what third parties say about him, you're never really talking about the dude. There's a lot of boomeranging on this board, where people will say bad things about a person just because they're rebelling against what they perceive as the mainstream (or, to put it maybe more generously, their differing opinion seems really salient). It's what leads to silly things like the sudden surge of hate for Dolph Ziggler, because everyone loves Ziggler, don't they?

It's what leads to silly things like the sudden surge of hate for Dolph Ziggler, because everyone loves Ziggler, don't they? I'm going to use Miz as an example. I freaking loved the Miz in 2009-11. When his feud with Cena began I saw how terrible he really was. Also the fact after he won at Mania and then lost a month later all his promos were the same monotone lines of "must see wwe superstar" and "I headlined wrestlemania..." Miz has been the same crappy Miz since 2009. He hasn't changed a single thing about him. Ziggler is now suffering from this. No matter how good you can wrestle, when you're character is dry its dry, look at Cena. Ziggler's stupid over the top references don't help his character. Another person that already starting this is Regins. Its not that people hate mainstream things its when you see someone not changing their character up you start to get bored.

I get what you're saying, but wrestlers often don't have the ability to just change their persona. Ziggler can't just "freshen up" his own character; he doesn't have that power, so blaming the performer doesn't make much sense. It'd be fine if the WRITERS kept people fresh, but they don't. Even so, I don't think boredom fully explains this phenomenon. There were plenty of people who hated Ambrose before he even debuted, just because others said he was good. It happened to Paige right after she debuted, too. I don't think there would have been as big a swing against Ziggler if he hadn't been seen as popular before, because now that your "anti-mainstream" opinion has a foothold, you push more. The recipe seems to be that if you were a smark favorite, but now there's an objective thing to point to about why you suck (usually bad booking), the pendulum swings harder.

Can't we all get back to the topic of Dean Ambrose being amazing and being one of the few highlights of Raw, the past several weeks? This is practically an appreciation thread and I want to see more love for his work!

I do love how Dean slaps the mic down when he's done talking instead of dropping it.

I seriously hope he wins the money in the bank briefcase, would suit perfectly into the unpredictability his character has at the moment.

I do love how Dean slaps the mic down when he's done talking instead of dropping it. Unfortunately, soon enough due to budget cuts Dean is forced to gently put the mic down to prevent it from breaking and costing money.

I think the corpsing was because he got so into the promo that he forgot he was supposed to give Roman the mic to talk.

I haven't been this into a performers breaking out in I don't know when. Its fresh, its energetic, it is filled with a lot of purpose that is really drawing me in. This is what I want when I watch wrestling, or anything for that matter, to be into it. On a side note, a future main event with Cody, Rollins, Bryan, Wyatt, and Ambrose is a very pleasing idea to me!
