I've been reading Rocket for about a decade now and never once read his voice in a British accent. I found the versions where did he have the accent to be rather off-putting and Bradley Cooper to be a lot closer to what he sounds like in my head.

Im going to see this later today. Just one question, i doubt it does, but do any story elemetnts from Captain America: The Winter Solider (which i havent seen yet) play a part in this film? I doubt it (since this film is more space-based) but with Marvel's films being so continuity-heavy you never know.

I tend to hear most characters as British, even the American ones, because I am British and I hear British accents all day. But for some reason, Rocket became uber British and became all London town and always has been, even before the cartoon and MvC3 did him that way

Given that the action is so far away from Earth (save for the opening flashback with young Peter), it's a no. However, elements from past MCU films show up.

Phallanx, Annihilus, and Kang will be in Fox's Fantastic Faux, but will be a trio of teenage girls. And Uatu the Watcher will be some hipster independent filmmaker, because found footage.

Saw it on Tuesday and I loved it.
Not to mention shock horror Batista was actually better than I expected him to be as well.

Earlier today, I got the Rocket Raccoon: Guardian of the Keystone Quadrant hardcover. I'll probably read the whole thing later tonight.

Annihilation: Conquest (not the actual team but a prototype version of it does appear) War of Kings (just for the scene where Rocket manages to pwn Gladiator with a mop)

Althought the GotG don't really start appearing until the start of their series, for context and just plain greatness, read all of this (actually stop after Thanos Imperiative. The Surfer books have nowt to do with GotG and the Annihilators is awful):

Actually, when it comes to the timeline, the film takes place in 2008 (the beginning is 1988, then we get a "20 years later"), so either the events of the film take place in a seven year span or this takes place either during or before Iron Man (there's no definitive date for the MCU films mentioned, but considering Iron Man 3 mentions Downton Abbey, its assumed they take place during the year of the film).

I'm not a big Guardians fan but I enjoyed it for what it was but not much of the film has stuck with me a few days later. Fun to watch, but I really am not a fan of Rocket Raccoon or anyone in the story outside of Groot.
Batista was great as Drax too but after seeing so many people rave about him I expected more. He plays a good ass kicker but that's about it.
Much better than Iron Man 2&3 though, and much better than the horrendous Superman film, nowhere near as good as the Captain America films. Solid/good popcorn film.

You know, I knew the Awesome Mix was a big part of the movie and enjoyed it but it wasn't until I actually listened to it while relaxing today that it hit me how a big a role it played. {Spoiler} it really got me when hearing Escape (the Piña Colada song) and thinking back to the stuff on Klin just how well that worked and how much effort they had to put in. Late to the party I know

Nearly every song on that soundtrack I had heard a million times over while walking around in stores and stuff. For the most part, my reaction was always somewhere between "meh" and "this is good." Now, when I hear those songs, I associate them with the film, and I really dig them and hum/sing along.

Now question....what's better: the Awesome Mix usage here, or Quicksilver's one "Time in a Bottle" scene from XM:DOFP?
