Is anything with the words, "The New" ever any good? Actually I thought it was cool when they would show old footage of Blackjack Lanza and Blackjack Mulligan when talking about the team. Also, they at least felt like a real team, which the WWF had been lacking for some years prior. Plus, I didn't really realize how lazy Bradshaw could be in the ring until the Acolytes so that's something. But yeah for the most part they were pretty unremarkable.

Overwhelming indifference. They were just... there.

No. You're either emulating something that was crap, and no one wants to remember, or you're emulating something great, and you'll never live upto it.

They would've gotten that gimmick over in Japan. They didn't fit in the WWF.

Boring as hell, as were all of the teams in 1997. The Godwinns, The Headbangers, Furnas and Lafon (although great workers) and even the LOD, oh and dont forget the NOD, Los Boricuas and the DOA. Just horrendous.
The New Blackjacks, the New Midnight Express, the New Rockers.. just no. The only one I liked was The New Foundation as it felt like a different team.

It was a horribly dated gimmick that did nobody any favours, they should have played it for laughs like the West Texas Rednecks in WCW but the WWF didn't seem ready for that.

I didn't understand why they couldn't just let Barry Windham be Barry Windham, though I was amused at his spot-on impression of his old man. I thought Bradshaw was a hack at the time and didn't really take him seriously until well into the APA run.

Bullshit. I enjoyed both the New Breed and the New World Order. What was the New Breed Again? WWECW stable featuring CM Punk for like a minute. Although I believe there was also a tag team in WCW or NWA, I forget which. PS. I did NOT actually enjoy the New Breed....although I did like Elijah Burke.

Barry Windham looks like Captain Lou when he was on the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.
Anyway, I just remember them being a jobber tag team pretty much. As said, putting New in front of anything is the kiss of death.

I wasn't a fan, but had they pushed Bradshaw as a Stan Hansen monster instead of a jobber team it may have worked for me...but he wasn't and they didn't.
With that said, it was effective if for no reason than pairing a young guy with a veteran which- considering how JBL turned out- has to be viewed as a home run over the long haul.
