Has anyone played Ultra Street Fighter IV? If so, what are your thoughts on it? If you've seen Ultra Street Fighter IV, what are your impressions of it? In particular, what do you think of the 5 additional characters and backgrounds that were imported from Street Fighter x Tekken?
I have not played the game, but I am a huge fan of the Street Fighter series. I do not yet own any versions of Street Fighter IV; I do not have a console that supports the game, and although I built a computer in early 2014, I refrained from buying Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition over Steam because (1) I didn't want to put up with Games For Windows Live DRM and (2) I knew that a newer edition of Street Fighter IV was in the works, and that Capcom did not plan to saddle it with GFWL.
I know that 4 of the characters that made their Street Fighter IV debut in Ultra Street Fighter IV were imported from Street Fighter x Tekken. They seem alright, but I would have rather seen SF3 characters like Urien, Alex, Oro and Q made the cut instead. I think Capcom simply imported fighters and backgrounds from Street Fighter x Tekken out of a combination of laziness and financial constraint.
As for the 5th character making her debut, I am not impressed by what I have seen of Decapre. She looks and seems to play like a Cammy clone. Her defenders like to point out that her special moves are different than Cammy's, and are charge-based, but that does not excuse Capcom from giving Decapre the exact same model frame as Cammy's, or from giving Decapre many of the same standard attacks as Cammmy. Decapre basically looks like a masked version of Cammy. The fact that so many of their standard attacks are the same reminds me of the palette swapping that Mortal Kombat's developers used to make clones out of Scorpion and Sub Zero (i.e. Smoke, Ermac, Reptile, Noob Saibot, etc.). If Capcom had come out and said that Decapre would be the 5th character making her Street Fighter IV debut in USF4, that would be one thing, but the fact that Capcom held off on announcing her makes the whole thing seem like an instance of trolling the fanbase.
In any case, I will probably pick up the game when it is ported to the PC - if only because I don't already have a version of Street Fighter IV.

I like it. Poison's fun to play with, but I do not like playing with Decapre. She's has a drastically different playstyle from Cammy, though, so she's not really a pallet swap.

It has a million bugs, and the new game mechanics (like Red Focus, etc.) are dodgy.
As for the new characters, I like Poison the most. They messed up Rolento, and Decapre's not as fun as I thought she would be.

Decapre may not handle like Cammy, but she sure looks a lot like her. Most of Decapre's regular attacks look identical to Cammy's (Only things like the super moves look any different).
Of the 5 characters that were added to Street Fighter IV in Ultra, Rolento and Poison look the most interesting to me. I enjoyed playing as Rolento in Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3.

I haven't seen any bugs myself, red focus is an interesting tool that has been added. I'm a more casual player and I am finding it enjoyable. If you haven't picked up any SF4s then this is certainly a good time to join.
The New stages are cool, basically a copy from the sfxt game with the Tekken references removed.
Poison: interesting possibly effective character I use occasionally. Hugo: Barely used him so far. Slow and clunky meh. Elena: Sleeper charcter I might use more than I thought I would. Rolento: Is Awesome! But he is slower than in his alpha days.
Decapre: Is completely different in trying to use compared to Cammy, it's more like trying to use a weird Vega. To say she is a palette swap is like saying sub-zero and scorpion are the same.

Back when MK1 and MK2 were considered 'modern' games, critics criticized the MK series on grounds that all of the playable characters had the exact same regular moves, and the only substantial factor that distinguished them (gameplay-wise) was the special moves. The critics contrasted the MK series with the Street Fighter series, where every character (except for Ryu and Ken) had not only unique special moves, but unique regular attacks as well. From what I have seen, Decapre seems to share many of the same regular attacks as Cammy. If playing as her truly feels different than playing as Cammy, great; that's a pleasant surprise I'm sure I'll enjoy. However, I'm sure I'd enjoy playing as Decapre a lot more if she actually looked like an original character and did not seem to have so many regular moves that mirror Cammy's.

I don't own a PS3, but I have access to one, so I borrowed a copy of USF4 for that console since the PC port's netcode is too shoddy to invest in at the moment.
The game is good. The AI seems far more reasonable than the AI of the original SF4 (Although Seth - the final boss - is still a total @$^&%$&).
I can attest that Decapre does play very differently than Cammy, but I stand by my criticism that she looks too much like Cammy for her own good.
I liked playing as Hugo in SF3, but he's a lot more sluggish in SF4 compared to how he moved around in that game.

Decapre first appeared in Alpha 3 along with the other dolls, and was the most intriguing looking of them to me given her similarities to Cammy, so I can't blame them for making her a playable character. Her story elaborates enough why they look alike that I can't really complain about it, especially since she plays nothing like her.

It still has Poochie Seth, who I can never beat, so it still sucks.

Safe to say he ain't gonna be in SF5 I thought Dee Jay knocked him out? I find Rolento is a bit too slow in comparison to ALpha, otherwise it's great. Frequently play in on Xbox Live and I am always up for a few rounds.

It still has Poochie Seth, who I can never beat, so it still sucks. As a single player game, yes, it does indeed suck. The real fun comes from 2-player competition, as was the case with Mortal Kombat II. The weird thing is that Street Fighter II and even the Street Fighter Alpha games had really good, fair single-player quests. Insanely cheap end bosses became the norm from Street Fighter III onward.

I am playing the PS3 port, but I intend to buy the PC port once Capcom fixes the online netcode, which somehow became royally screwed up when Capcom switched the online matchmaking service from Games For Windows Live to Steamworks.

The 360. I have two other gamestops to try, but I'm waiting until this weekend. I decided to not hunt too hard because once I get it I'll be on like a pot of neckbones.

Honestly, I had a harder time with Bison in SFA3 then I ever did with Seth, even when Bison was on the easiest difficulty.
