No, that's not a typo. I'm becoming nostalgic for nu metal!
For whatever reason, I felt compelled to put together a metal playlist to listen to. It's a pretty eclectic mix already, with the likes of Cynic and Mastodon sitting with Kiss and Motley Crue sitting with King Diamond and Megadeth.
And then, I did the least troo kvlt thing I could possibly do: it started out innocently enough, with Static-X and an early Slipknot track. But I think I went too far, adding an early Linkin Park song to the mix (gasp!).
Maybe I can't handle metal anymore. Maybe I ought to just give it up and become a pop fan. Go on Amazon and pick up the Hall & Oates discography.
Private eyes! *clap* They're watchin' you! *clapclap*
Sorry, I truly just felt weird about my additions to a playlist that, admittedly, no one is going to listen to but me. And felt I had to share. And also be stupid about it.

Well, if you're going nu metal, at least listen to some Deftones.

Well, if you're going nu metal, at least listen to some Deftones. I've enjoyed Deftones, even seen them live a long time ago. But Linkin Park was my favorite nu metal band back in the day, and I just stopped paying attention to them post-Meteora. Then I found out about their new album and listened to it on Spotify. And I felt weird about it being a "return to our roots" album for a nu metal band. But it inspired me to add them to my metal playlist. Which inspired me to feel softfakeposeurmetal about my taste in music, and make a dumb thread.

Maybe it would make sense from the inside, but looking at that thread as an outsider, I just go cross-eyed.

I've been listening to a lot of Disturbed lately. A lot of their stuff holds up well.

And also be stupid about it. This means nothing unless you can't no longer listen to the metal song without enjoying. I mean coming from me who loves so many kinds of music. The fact I have the bands you listed Kiss and Crue, Metallica, Black Sabbath. Then go into Michael Jackson. Plus I have a lot of what is just classic Rock like Aerosmith. If you enjoy that what matters. It only bad when you no long enjoy the metal bands you loved.

I still love Linkin Park and I'm not even slightly ashamed. Hunting Party is decent, but Living Things and A Thousand Suns are both fantastic. The fact that they're still around after all these years and given their original genre is nothing short of miraculous.

don't worry, I love everything Linkin Park did from Hybrid Theory until Minutes to Midnight, and fellow nu-metallers P.O.D. will always be a sentimental favorite due to the fact their music saved my life.

I am in no position to say anything. I am going to see KISS/Def Leppard at the Forum in three days. Am I ashamed of that? Nope.

Nothing wrong with some Nu Metal as far as I'm concerned. I have a pretty fair chunk of Nu Metal CDs in my collection.
