The Blue Jays need to get a trade for a consistent pitcher.

Matt Cain has not been making progress in his early rehabilitation from an elbow injury.
Gio Gonzalez limited the Reds to one run over seven innings but took the loss on Saturday.

Shelby Miller allowed only two runs over 5 2/3 innings Saturday in the Cardinals' win over the Cubs.

Red Sox trade Jake Peavy to the Giants for prospects Edwin Escobar and Heath Hembree. Stan Lee is now running the Red Sox farm system. The best part is that Peavy can arrive to the ballpark from McCovey Cove in the Duckboat he brought last year.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Cardinals have reached an agreement with free agent catcher A.J. Pierzynski. I'm sorry for the Cardinals. A.J. went 3-for-4 in his Cards' debut.

I'm sorry for the Cardinals. A.J. went 3-for-4 in his Cards' debut. I was referring to the fact that he's the most hated player in MLB for very good reasons.

I don't have an issue with A.J., and he's been gone from Chicago for years.
Edit: If anybody has the time and uses Netflix, I highly recommend watching "The Battered Bastards Of Baseball", the story of the Northwest League's only independent (non-MLB affiliated) Portland Mavericks minor-league team. Lots of vintage film from that time.

Speaking as a Rangers fan, that Eric Nadel Ford Frick Award speech was awesome.

Felix Doubront said Sunday that he'd rather be traded if he's not going to start for the Red Sox.

Lot of talk of a Dodgers/Red Sox trade of Lester for Kemp.
I don't think the money Lester is asking for is that outrageous considering what other stud starting pitchers his age make. I think the Red Sox front office got spoiled on Dustin Pedroia taking an unusually big home discount and expected their other big homegrown names to follow suit.

The resilience of the Rays team is incredible. I love this sort of thing as a baseball fan even if they're a division rival.

According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Yankees remain interested in White Sox hurler John Danks.

The best part is that Peavy can arrive to the ballpark from McCovey Cove in the Duckboat he brought last year. I can't believe the Red Sox were able to land two prospects in exchange for Jake Peavy. Escobar is having a down season, but MLB.com projected him as the Giants' second-best prospect, behind Kyle Crick. And while Hembree isn't expected to turn into an ace, there was some talk that he was possibly the closer-in-waiting in San Francisco, so he could potentially have a chance to compete for the closer role in Boston if Koji Uehara is traded or fields a colossal contract this off-season.

I don't see why Boston would trade Lester for Kemp, that makes no sense for them. If they trade Lester then they had better be getting Pederson or Seager in the deal.

I think the Red Sox front office got spoiled on Dustin Pedroia taking an unusually big home discount and expected their other big homegrown names to follow suit. They don't seem to like to pay their homegrown players unless it's at a discount. Pedroia/Lester/Buchholz were only re-signed because they were willing to accept a generous hometown discount. Papelbon refused and ended up with the Phillies. You'd think they would want to reward players that came up through the system and helped them win titles but I guess not.

Dan Uggla had a rough night in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers going 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts, and also making a critical error that led to an unearned run.

While I generally agree with this Lester is one of few people I make an exception for. The worst part is that Lester loves Boston and might have been willing to resign for a little less than what he would have gotten on the open market, but the Red Sox ridiculously low balled him so much in the spring (offering him only a 4 year $70 million dollar deal) that he shut off all negotiations and now looks like he'll test the market. The Sox might sill resign him but it will cost them far more than it would if they didn't dick with the guy in the first place.

Red Sox released OF Andres Torres.
Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Indians are "very willing to move" Justin Masterson.
