Kinda surprising that they'd include him in this countdown.

Even more surprised that they called him "the popular Superstar". The great great majority of his body of work is outside the range of the "WWE Universe".
I guess that now he's like Samoa Joe: This mythical being they talk about once in a while despite not being a star of their vast tape library.
Speaking of which, I'm surprised Samoa Joe isn't on this list.

Joey Styles is the best thing to happen to WWE.com.

I'm sure they mentioned AJ Styles a few times before. He strikes me as a modern day Sting in that he never worked for the WWE but they have so much respect for the guy that they can't help but show their admiration. Much like Sting, AJ is in no position or promotion to pose any threat to WWE so it's harmless on the E's part to plug him. I can see guys like AJ, Joe, Roode, Storm, among others getting good treatment from WWE if TNA's library were to ever be sold to them.

Meanwhile CM Punk can't even get a mention anywhere but on Shopzone.

They have alluded to him on a wink wink situation but never by name: having Michelle McCool using his finisher, when someone (evan bourne maybe?) used a similar backflip kick Jim Ross named it "a Pele", having his pre set move set on every smackdown game since here comes the pain

Are 4 and 5 really that shocking? It's not like Bagwell was super-obscure in his brief time in WWE or anything. And the Rock and Roll Express also fought at Unforgiven or Over the Edge 98 during that NWA invasion storyline.

froggyfrog 5 superstars that you might not know were in the WWE the list. {Spoiler}{Spoiler} 1. the Freebirds (well specifically not Michael Hayes) 2. Kevin Von Erich 3. AJ Styles 4. Buff Bagwell 5. Rock and Roll Express.
Like how they showed the Cena/Danielson match during #3

Gotta say, don't think I would ever see AJ on the same list as the Rock N' Roll Express and Buff Bagwell.

I think much like with Sting, AJ is one of those guys that had other reasons not to go to the WWE other than money and neither speak poorly of the WWE. The only reason AJ never joined the WWE was because it was poor timing for him and his wife. Also could be the fact that AJ is also one of the rare Gajins to hold the IWGP title.

Joey Styles is the best thing to happen to WWE.com. That's why he was mentioned, it's just classic WWE nepotism!

Definitely nice to see him actually get mentioned.
Although Bobby Roode actually worked more episodes of Jakked/Metal/Velocity than AJ ever did
