The WWE should absolutely NOT be getting away with the way they treat their employees. Its disgusting quiet frankly. Why did the Raven lawsuit stall out again?
They need some kind of union protection but they don't fit in with SAG OR the Stuntman's union exactly. Unionize on their own? Idk. It bothers me that wrestlers are treated this way there's so much wrong with the industry. Its getting better but its nowhere near just yet.

I think the problem with wrestling not being seen as a legit sport is that nobody who can make things change will bother looking into it. I agree that things need to change, but I don't see that happening until HHH takes over.

If TNA was smart and not restricted by mama Carter they should just hand out guaranteed money right now and raid WWEs talent pool that are miserable. What's TNA hoping to do? This is the same for company that keeps cutting talent or offering them low ball offers when their deals are up. Seriously, why is it that Angle turned down a renewal offer? They must have offered him a pay cut.

I guess the fines explain why there's been more and more fussing on Twitter when flights are delayed or canceled... poor guys.

I would hate for them to tour in hot places, especially in the summer wearing professional attire all day.
Hell how does it even make sense for the Wyatt Family or Shield to wear it?

That fine shit is ridiculous. Especially since they're "independent contractors". If you're gonna treat em like employees, give em benefits. How Vince McMahon gets away with the independent contractor stuff is mind boggling to me. They own everything about their talent. Nothing about the talent is independent of the company. They can't work anywhere else, they have to abide by the company's rules, and the company owns their trademark. It's unbelievable. The WWE have been saved so far by the fact that most guys they release hope that someday they'll be rehired, by the time they've given up, too much time has passed for them, see the Raven/Sanders/Kanyon case where it got thrown out on that technicality... It's not something that's going to save them forever, as guys released now know there's very little chance they'll make a return to the company as rehires are few and far between. Eventually you're going to get a case brought by the likes of Jinder Mahal, Big Zeke and such who have nothing to lose and they'll bring the whole scam down.

Too much time had passed between Raven, Kanyon and Sanders being on the WWE payroll and the suit being filed. A union would be a good thing, but it's not going to happen as top guys have too much to lose, and the lower card guys still have ambition of rising up the card like JBL, someday. Should the 'Independent contractors' scam collapse, the WWE will likely try again with it by shifting to something like the TNA system where guys have just enough freedom, they can work outside dates in their own time that are booked through the company, but it's expensive and they can't work recorded dates.

They can't work anywhere else, they have to abide by the company's rules, and the company owns their trademark. It's unbelievable. I think a sticking point you're always going to have with the idea of collective bargaining is this : it's going to diminish the earnings potential of the top guys, as they'll be brought down to a level closer to the bottom guys. Who is going to bust their ass to be the Main Event guy the way Cena has, when he's going to be paid close to the same level as Zack Ryder or Tyson Kidd? Agreed, which is why the big names will always balk at the idea. They have no incentive to do it. In order for the change to potentially happen, a big name will have to take the moral stance and fight for it. I think one compromise would be giving talent more freedom with their character and letting them own their own name. At least that way if they do leave the company they can still make a living off their well known trademark. Unfortunately, Vince would never do that either. He wants to own everything about his talent, run them dry until they can't perform anymore, and then we are supposed to forget about their shady practices because he picks up the tab for certain things (rehab). It's BS.

Except not at all; not with the whole independent contractor fallacy. If they were truly independent, so long as they upheld their end of contracted dates, they could perform elsewhere, wouldn't have dress codes and the like etc. But the fact is, they're not. They're employees in all but name, which allows WWE to treat em as such, without having to give ANY sort of benefits any regular company would. It's bullshit. If all the wrestlers got up and said "We're on strike until you give us benefits" WWE would cave in about ten minutes. It's sad that they made this a storyline a couple of years ago.

Has any disgruntled ex-employee ever uploaded a copy of their WWE contract? I want to see how WWE words stuff that allows them to do the things they do.

It's sad that they made this a storyline a couple of years ago. Even worse that they booked HHH and by extension those in charge as perfectly reasonable and 'correct'. I remember seeing that angle on a TV at the gym I was going to at the time. I had a hard time keeping my jaw from hitting the floor. Though I hadn't really supported them much before that, that angle made me swear to myself that I wasn't going to give Vince and company another cent. Everything about that angle was just awful, not the least of which being Triple H, you know, burying the entire roster and then being treated as correct for doing so.
