Hey guys, just have a few questions here. For anyone here who knows or personally knows, just how do you become a part of the rasslin biz? Not necessarily as a wrestler, but as say a manager or even part of the ring crew.

Part of it involves meeting people. Getting into a good wrestling school is one way of doing that, for example. I know we have some wrestlers here, and I believe at least one promoter, so they can certainly give better advice than I could, but networking absolutely is a good start.

Pretty sure that managers go to wrestling school as well. I would imagine that ring crew is usually comprised of the wrestlers at the lower Indy levels.

I had kinda figured so on managers, although I did not know that about ring crew. Not that it's a huge earth shattering revelation to me lol, just thought that it's interesting.

Being potentially caught in a lie would not be the best way to begin a good relationship with the people who run a promotion. Usually ring crew are a mix of wrestling school students and occasionally fans willing to "help out for free," in addition to passing out flyers, hanging up posters, etc. Some groups may offer a free ticket to the show to someone who helps set up and tear down the ring. Varies from promotion to promotion.

Oh, I definitely wouldn't recommend it. Just saying how I got in. I only wrestled for 2-3 years and that was about 15 years ago, give or take.

Like everybody else says, it's all about quality social networking, opportunity, and being willing to do it for free, a ticket, or pizza.
Anybody who is ever expected to bump or have a hand in a match, including the refs by the way, go to wrestling school, or at least should. You are a part of the act, all the same. Lots of referees were first wrestlers who loved the business but were too brittle or not tough enough or athletic enough to be wrestlers for too long.
Finding a good school depends on your financial means, location and ambition.
Mick Foley drove between Long Island and Pittsburgh twice a week to be taught how to wrestle by a WWWF wrestler. I'm sure it was worth it for him, financially at least. That being said, not all unknown trainers are bad. Sami Zayn was trained in his basics by a complete nobody, then pretty much taught himself the rest.
