All I can say is, I cannot wait for him to wrestle Seth Rollins. They did have a great match in ROH... So many potentially amazing matches for him to have on NXT/main roster. Brilliant news, and this really adds to the overall in ring talent of a roster stacked with such...and we still have DEVITT and STEEN still to come in hopefully/potentially

I read earlier in this thread that KENTA does what Bryan does - but better? I have to strongly disagree that KENTA does anything better than Bryan other than being Japanese. I'd say KENTA has far better execution than Bryan, but less fire, worse selling, and less psychology skill. Granted, as a diehard Daniel Bryan fan, I've always felt that execution was a slight weakness of Bryan's that was made up for with his fire, character, selling, and brilliant storytelling. KENTA is more the kind of guy who can be slotted easily into WWE matches where he can smoothly and efficiently get in his spots and pop the crowd a bit. Throw him in there with WWE's current crop of very talented workers, and he'll be able to work wonders. He likely won't connect to the audience the way Bryan did, but he will absolutely live up to WWE's high workrate standards and get over as a solid worker. We're looking at a Kofi Kingston level star at absolute worst, if he gets any kind of push. I don't think KENTA is better at execution either. He just stiffs people, that means Roy Nelson would have great wrestling delivery. I think "sloppy" looking delivery is great. At the end of the day, it's great if you don't injure your opponet I guess. I just personally feel KENTA is inferior to Bryan in every way but I respect your opinion, horses for courses.

Bryan is one of the best offensive wrestlers in the world, possibly ever. Even if KENTA has great execution, he only has one gear and doesn't do nearly as much interesting stuff as Bryan does. But I think he should get better by going through NXT.

The WWE's roster is amazing right now, wow.
Who would have ever thought it would be this great once Triple H started doing a bit more?

Well, I was not even referring to the stiffing - his top rope falcon arrow is a thing of beauty, and is a nice alternative to a superplex; his dropkicks are very good, and no stiffer than Ziggler's or Bryan's that I can see; his chain wrestling and flying are generally very good. KENTA became popular in the US partly because he was the best of many, many Kawada imitators wrestling on the US indy scene in the 00's, and most of that group is known for stupid amounts of stiffness (at a time when stiff strikes were to ROH as chairshots were to ECW). As such, I feel like KENTA's stiffness is overstated, at least in terms of how important it is to the quality of his performance. At any rate, I have a hard time seeing how his kicking offense is that much different from what we've been seeing out of Sheamus, Bryan, Ziggler, and Seth Rollins in the last year plus. And now I want to see Sheamus vs. KENTA.

Rather than comparing KENTA to other guys, I think we should just be thankful that Triple H is delivering the goods and having guys like Regal snatch up some of the best talent in the world. WWE in 5-10 years is going to be amazing should they pull their heads out of their asses creatively and get rid of the old guard.

It isn't his kicks that I really mean when I talk stiffness, although the head kicks I've seen where guys head's visibally shudder from the impact do count, it's most the slaps strikes. I know they are open hand and not full punches but on a WWE schedule, they are going to have an effect.
Ted Jr got knocked goo goo by an R-Truth slap so imagine a guy working with KENTA 4 times a week over a 3 month storyline. Then add the kicks and chops, lol.

The WWE's roster is amazing right now, wow. Who would have ever thought it would be this great once Triple H started doing a bit more? I did. Triple H is a wrestler, and looks for people with wrestling ability. Dunn and Laurinaitis are TV people and looked for bodybuilders and wannabe actors.

HHH: "Well, Kobashi-san, we're signing this KENTA fellow..." Kobashi: "So desu ka?" HHH: "Yeah... but he doesn't have a last name... he was born Kobayashi but that's about a syllable too long for our tastes.... see what I'm getting at? KO-BA-YA-SHI." Kobashi: "Desu." HHH: "Good... so... we want to cut one..." Kobashi: "Koyashi?" HHH: "No, Kobashi." Kobashi: "Desu?" HHH: "We want to call him Kenta Kobashi." Kobashi: "Iie, Kenta Kobashi-desu! Koyashi!" HHH: "Kobashi." Kobashi: "Koyashi." HHH: "Kobashi." Kobashi: "Koyashi." HHH: "I'm gonna hit you." Kobashi: "Desu-ka?" HHH: "I'm gonna hit you." Kobashi: "Desu-ka?" HHH: "I'm gonna hit you." Kobashi: "Desu-ka?" HHH: "Alright, you're starting to piss me off now. You damn cripple." Kobashi: "KONOYARO!!" *Chop, chop, burning hammer* Kobashi: "Koyashi." I'd pay all the money to see Kobashi machine-gun chop Triple H. It just occurred to me. We need a gif of Kenta Kobashi doing his corner machine-gun chops, but for every chop, a different pained Triple H expression put over the recipient's face. Edit: Here's KENTA kicking the absolute crap out of Eddie Edwards just cause it's hilarious.

Anyone know when the next NXT live special is supposed to happen? Some time in the fall? That would be a cool time to debut KENTA, an get those precious subscribers for the network.

Imagine this: we could have the debuts of KENTA, Devitt (should he be in developmental by then), Steen and Mack amongst others. Hell, maybe Solomon Crowe makes it onto the show.

Can anyone tell me who he is? Does he speak English? You know that you have this thing at your disposal called the internet which is basically the sum of all human knowledge right? Google my friend... google. Having said that, I don't know if KENTA speaks perfect or even okay English, but I know he speaks some and probably won't decline learning more in order to climb the ladder in WWE unlike Sin Cara/Ex-Mistico who blatantly refused. KENTA is a junior heavyweight similar in size to Daniel Bryan, and is a world renowned wrestler who's known for his strikes and submissions. KENTA is credited with inventing the Go To Sleep knee strike that CM Punk popularized in America, and the Busaiku Knee Kick that Daniel Bryan has been using as the "Knee +". In exchange, KENTA had been using the LaBell Lock/Yes! Lock of Daniel Bryan's (calling it the Game Over). KENTA is regarded as a great/athletic worker inside the ring and has spent time in America working for Ring of Honor. He has a series/somewhat of a mini feud with Daniel Bryan before Bryan signed with WWE, and has also worked with many of the other ex-indie talents that have made their way to WWE in recent years. In a nutshell, WWE has signed a guy who's sort of a Japanese equivalent to Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, and Low Ki in the respect that they've all influenced each other at some point in time.

I just can't believe how stacked WWE's/NXT's talent roster is now. Hell not even three years ago I would of believed WWE would have a roster like this. If only the Creative was as good as the talent.

Either give him to Paul Heyman or have Sting pass on his gimmick much like Glacier gave his to Kaz Hayashi.

I had the pleasure of seeing Kenta live in ROH back in 2009. It was Kenta and El Generico versus Nigel and Davey Richards. Excellent match that was made famous as it was the match Nigel destroyed him arm in which triggered the downfall of his wrestling career.

Triple H god bless him can sign all the outstanding journeyman wrestlers he wants, but until creative is gutted and overhauled, it's no different than Bischoff signing 30 Super J Cup wrestlers but still pushing the same tired acts.
