Batista has to be up there from Mania 23-24. Co-headlining with Taker to a forgettable throw away match with Umaga

Paul Orndorff main eventing WM1 then opening WM 2 against Don Muraco. Can't really beat this one. Dunno, he may have been in the opener but he was still facing Muraco, former I-C Champion and perennial upper midcarder. King Kong Bundy fell from the WWF Championship main event to wrestling Hillbily Jim and midgets.

I think the biggest WM demotion was an event, itself, WrestleMania IV.
WrestleMania III was an amazing show that is still discussed today. The crowd was unheard of and two of the matches are considered two of the greatest ever. There was Macho and Steamboat for the athleticism and showmanship and Hulk and Andre for the ultimate encounter. The undercard was nothing to scoff at either.
Next year, the venue was poor, the tournament didn't give too many WrestleMania moments and the undercard was in such sad shape that even without the tournament, the undercard couldn't provide a good source for match quality.

I can't remember where the Miz was after WM27, but he took a pretty steep plunge that he's never quite recovered from. Of course, Roddy Piper fell from main event in WM1 to boxing Mr. T in WM2. . That was the New York main event.

Orton went from main eventing a landmark wrestlemania to a pointless undercard triple threat Undercard yes, but the match brought to an end of Legacy which had been consistently involved at the top of the card for over a year, so it had some relevancy at least. Triple H's match with Sheamus was arguably more pointless.

That was the New York main event. That is true, but for Roddy it was horrible because he didn't want to work with Mr. T, let alone job to him. In that respect it was a huge demotion for him.

IRS was in one half of the double main event at WM9. At WM10 he was meant to be in a meaningless 10 man tag match which got bumped to Raw the following night.

Orton went from main eventing a landmark wrestlemania to a pointless undercard triple threat I disagree. His match was all about the end of Legacy, which had been a major heel stable for a year. So there was more to it than your average feud.

Does Demolition count (won their 3rd tag title at WM6, jobbed to Tenryu and Kitao at WM7)?

Does Demolition count (won their 3rd tag title at WM6, jobbed to Tenryu and Kitao at WM7)? Only halfway because at 6 it was Ax and Smash, whereas at 7 it was Smash and Crush.

Benoit from the Four Horsemen to Raw. I believe it was the Elite 4 Horsemen to Raw. No wonder he went on a murderous and suicidal rampage.

I imagine, and I believe I said it at the time, it was a combination of combining everything everyone in the office knew of wrestling and rushing through Google search results.

Lex Luger: from being a top face & wrestling for the title at WM10, to being in the curtain-jerker opening match at WM11 with Bulldog vs. the Grimm Blu Brother Twins. So was this match...DOA?

I'd also put macho man (again) on this list. He went from winning the world title at wm 8 to being a commentator the following year. That move probably did play a role in his eventual departure.

No doubt about it. If you go back and watch old Raws from '93 and '94, you can tell that he'd much rather be in the ring than doing the commentator gig. He had a match here and there, but he could have been utilized so much better. Imagine the feuds he could have had with HBK or Bret Hart at that time. His best years might have been behind him, but I was so glad when he jumped to WCW and got back into the thick of the action.
