Punk should be away for a number of years.
He finally returns as GM Punk - Grumpy Man Punk.
He is out of touch with the product, and complains about "the kids today", while reminiscing about the 434 days he spent on top.
He is finally squashed by some young talent, and never returns.

He's a fan favorite, and he was justifiably burnt out and frustrated. He went about it the wrong way, but I'm sure there isn't anyone here who has ever thought about walking out on a job.
The only way I'd bring him back would be for a final run. And I'd send him out in a bang in a way the fans would want. I'd bring him back in as Plan C and have him challenge for the title at Summerslam. I'd have him win it, and then I'd do one final Punk hurrah.
Assuming it's an ideal scenario, Bryan recovers and returns as #30 in the Rumble, where Punk successfully defends the title against Lesnar. Wrestlemania 31 is headlined by two Superstars returning to cement their legacy: formerly injured Bryan trying to prove he's the guy and formerly gone Punk trying to prove he was right about walking out.
In a battle for the ages closing out Wrestlemania, CM Punk loses. He shakes Bryan's hand, he looks around the crowd one last time...and we never see him again. Bryan YESes his way out the Arena with a crowd whipped up in a frenzy, having proven he's not just the guy...he's the greatest of all time.
In a few years, he can come back. Maybe do some fun guest host stuff. Maybe another brief run. But if Punk were to come back, that's how I'd do it.

I still seriously do NOT get all the Punk hate since he left. Sucks that he left, sucks that he felt burnt out, sucks that he may not come back, but its not like he owes anyone of us anything.
I personally was thinking of if he comes back for them to pair him with a popular face that is about to take some time off and make it look like he convinced them to leave like he did. Play it up and get the crowd all up in his business. Maybe even get to see his "wrestling attire plus sportsjacket" combo as he himself comes back to announcing and as a sort of manager

Punk hate, lol. Some of you must be sad sad f***s who think he owes you something, and are now majorly butthurt that he's "abandoned" you. At least, that's the only reason I can see for at least 40% of FAN hating him now.

I would love to see him come back because I am a huge fan of CM Punk, but he seems to be content right now. If he doesn't come back as a surprise entrant at the Royal Rumble this coming year, then I don't think he will come back for a while, if ever.

Were I Vince/HHH, the only thing I would offer Punk is a HOF induction. He's talked about retiring fairly early countless times, so anything else he might agree to would be a bonus.

I would give him the Kerwin White gimmick... Have him cut his promos on a golf cart.

"hey sir, you paid your ticket, but you're booing me.. so i'm gonna beat you up fatso!" and things don't go his way and "oh boohoo i'm going to beat triple h in the second to last match at wrestlemania? that's not good enough for me, see ya bye". punk's a crybaby and i hope he stays gone.

Punk gives off the vibe of a dude who after lots of bitching and throwing his weight around finally succeeds and just half assess everything afterwords. I get he was burnt out but god damn his final run was cringe worthy compared to 2009-2010.

I'd book him with a jobber entrance on a random episode of Main Event.

Come out dressed as a WWF Ice Cream Bar, dance in the ring for three minutes solid, leave without saying a word.
Next week, I dunno, have him get involved in the title scene. I'll have had my amusement by that point.

I am a big fan of Punk, and this was not a hate post. Just wanted to clarify that.
The thought of grumpy old man CM Punk is just funny to me.

Have Punk study the Raven's "I'm really rich and wrestling to piss of my dad" storyline, then adapt it to him...or put him in Evolution.

It's the way he left, just so abruptly. He has every right to leave, but this is usually a one-way trip. For most people, knowing that if they left their job the way CM Punk did, they know they could NEVER return to that job for the rest of their lives, CM Punk would seem like a massive spoiled brat if he simply could come back to the WWE anytime he felt like it. It's also an insult to the wrestlers that actually fulfill their contracts and stay to the end or until WWE releases them (which is part of the contract). If wrestlers want to leave early, they usually ask for their release, and often get it.

So the guy was a great character basically since his indie days, until the last year or so of his tenure in WWE when he became frustrated that he held the biggest title in the company and was STILL placed under acts like Cena, Orton, Undertaker, etc as well as becoming burned out from wrestling with a bunch of nagging injuries...but by all means, turn your back in him for what amounts to a VERY small percentage of his work not being spectacular. Let's also not forget that, until Pink left and the crowd hijacked shows with their Bryan support, even if Pubk has been scheduled in place of Bryan, it wouldn't have been in the triple threat at WM, it would've been in a shitty feud with Kane like the one Bryan had.

If Punk is done in the ring, I'd want him back to replace Lawler and JBL on commentary
