I was a huge Punky Brewster mark as a little kid, I had such a big crush on her... I even watched the somewhat more f***ed up cartoon series, even if no other boys I knew would admit to it. (But then again, I liked Jem too...) Jem was excitement. Jem was adventure.

Did they ever explain what happened to Mike after the first couple of seasons? TK Carter was a pretty good character actor IMO who needed more work. Rumor has it he moved to Indiana and went by his nickname, Milo. I think he got a job as a middle school janitor.

Let us not forget the episode Cherie's cousin showed up and she didn't know how to read. And then her brother drank detergent and she couldn't help.
And the episode we finally learn what happened to Cherie's parents.
And as mentioned, the one she got locked in the fridge.
Oh, and it was also Cherie's fault when Brandon ran away.
Geez, Cherie had it rough.

I also remember an episode where Cherie's mom was marking out for Jake the Snake Roberts.

A Very Special Episode where Punky learned to Just Say No to drugs. Second only to Nancy Reagan(!) showing up on Di'ffrent Strokes.

You know, I've heard people joke about that whole campaign, and maybe it was because I didn't hang around other kids my age much, but that campaign, along with numerous celebs and wrestlers who carried the anti drug message really did influence me-so much so that to this day, I have not tried drugs of any kind and only recently started drinking beer.

I watched this show all the time and the only thing I remember is the Challenger episode. The don't do drugs show kinda rings a Bell didn't someone offer Punky a sticker that was laced in acid or is that a 2nd grade flashback where everyone enforced to kids a fear of stickers? Looking back why would a drug dealer waste all that money on acid to kids that didn't have any money to buy it if they got hooked?

What in the blue hell is her weird Orko/Snarf crossbreed sidekick? Since I'm planning on talking about the cartoon eventually, I know a bit more specific on Glomer. He's this leprechaun/cat thing from the land of Chaundoon, which is inside the end of the rainbow. He can perform magic, but it usually is pretty worthless as his powers die out fast. He's also voiced by Frank Welker, which means he sounds like a slightly more coherent Slimer.

Oh, I'm not knocking the campaign. But man, talk about a hard sell. All I am saying.

I assume they figure kids could steal from their parents, but it was a pretty sensationalist time, much like hearing about Molly and Cheese on the news is amusingly fear-mongering. It'd be more an issue with young teens than little kids. Don't forget that winners don't use drugs from every arcade game in the 90's I kind of wish they'd throw that in console games now just for the nostalgia factor.

They sell drugs solely for the sake of poisoning the youth of America! "Well, my operations are $800 in the red this month, but it was worth it just to send those promising honor students down the road to ruin."

The five part Changes episode was based on faulty information. It claims Henry's only source of income was the photography studio. He was also the manager of the apartment building and would have had income from that (plus his rent would have been free). So he would have had no problem providing for Punky. And in the refrigerator episode, why was he buying the refrigerator out of his own pocket?
