The NBA store has discontinued Andrew Wiggins' Cavs jersey. I may be the only person in the world who believes this, but I honestly think trading young developing players for Kevin Love would be terrible for the Cavaliers. Suddenly, they'd morph into the Heat all over again, with three superstars and little else to speak of. And as we learned with the Heat this past season, if one of the three stars has a down series or season, that thin bench gets magnified and the team loses. Hell, they've already started the transition into becoming Miami North by signing Mike Miller and James Jones, with the likely addition of Ray Allen imminent. Also, all of the pressure is suddenly thrust right back onto LeBron James' shoulders to bring home a title for his hometown team in 2015. In his Sports Illustrated letter to Cleveland, he talked about how the team wasn't ready to win right now, but his goal was to bring at least one championship to Cleveland before he hung up his Nikes. Well, if the Cavaliers acquire Kevin Love, that all changes, and they would have to win now. Anything short of a championship in 2015 would be a failure. I think Cleveland would be better suited standing pat with the team they have now, with LeBron James helping to develop Andrew Wiggins into a star, and helping to turn Anthony Bennett's career around. They may not win a championship in 2015, but they'd be built to win in the long-term future, as opposed to dumping any assets they have to trade for Kevin Love, in the hope that he re-signs next summer and LeBron doesn't opt out in 2015 or flee via free agency in 2016. The odds Kevin Love leaves Cleveland are the same as Lebron getting a career ending injury next year. If he gets traded to the Cavs where can he honestly expect to go next off season that gives him a better shot to win a title than with LeBron? He isn't going to the Lakers to hang out with over the hill Kobe and go back to be coach by Kurt Rambis again even if he's an assistant. Going to the Knicks/Celtics doesn't provide any boost to his title hopes that working with LeBron doesn't plus he'll be leaving 30-40M on the table to do it. Love is re-signing with the Cavs is almost a certainty unless Lebron suffers a freak long term injury or the organization treats him like dog shit. I also don't see what is with the criticisms of the Heat model. They won 2 titles, they made it to 2 other finals. The vaunted Spurs only won 1 title in that time frame. Also the age difference is huge. Kyrie and Love both have much fresher legs than Wade/Bosh had which means they are less likely to break down. I don't get why Cav fans(I know you are a Celtics guy) want to try to build a long term dynsaty. Win 1 title before you can proclaim future powerhouse.

This is really cool to see. I wish Hammon the best of luck in her new position. And she gets to pick the brain of arguably the best coach in the NBA today.

Great news and all, but didn't the Cavs have a female assistant around 10 years ago?

I don't get why Cav fans(I know you are a Celtics guy) want to try to build a long term dynsaty. Win 1 title before you can proclaim future powerhouse. My criticism of the Heat model, and by extension the late 2000s Celtics model and the mid 1990s Rockets model before it, is that it's unsustainable. When the Celtics won the championship in 2008, every star remained healthy for the lion's share of the season. The young players developed into quality role players. The bench players contributed immensely. Everything clicked. In 2009, Kevin Garnett got hurt and they failed to make it out of the second round. In 2010, Ray Allen went ice cold in the NBA Finals and they choked away a 13-point lead in game seven. The model is unsustainable because, as I've emphasized on numerous occasions before, if one of your three star players gets injured or hits a funk, the lack of depth is put on display and exposed. Dwyane Wade had a bad NBA Finals and the Heat had no one to carry his water while he struggled, and they got humiliated in five games. Yes, the players in the proposed "big three" in Cleveland are younger and healthier than Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh. But all it takes is one bad turn of an ankle or one unfortunate fall on the floor to throw everything into flux. What if Kyrie Irving gets hurt next spring? Will LeBron and Kevin Love be able to default to Matthew Dellavedova or John Lucas III? Or what if Kevin Love freezes up in the playoffs? Do you have faith in Brendan Haywood or Anderson Varejao? I just think the Spurs showed that there is value in depth over frontloading your talent. I'd rather have a team with quality players relatively evenly distributed from 1-8 as opposed to 1-3 being incredible talents and 4-8 being unreliable question marks.

Great news and all, but didn't the Cavs have a female assistant around 10 years ago? Yep, Lisa Boyer was an "volunteer" assistant coach from 01-02. To quote the CBS article. www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/24649084/spurs-hire-becky-hammon-nbas-first-female-assistant-coach"Lisa Boyer was a "volunteer assistant coach" on John Lucas' coaching staff for the Cleveland Cavaliers back in 2002. Boyer participated in the home practices and was on the side next to assistant Chuck Person for all of the Cavs' home games, but did not travel with the team. At the time, only two assistant coaches were allowed to sit on the team bench, so Boyer and Person had to be situated nearby but not directly on the bench."

Pacers have a banner at the Fieldhouse for fans to sign until Friday for Paul George.
I'm going to go there tomorrow and show my support.

Awesome news out of Golden State. The Warriors just signed Aaron Craft, a guy who was my favorite during his Buckeye career. He might not be the most athletic, or the biggest, but he'll give you unselfishness, leadership, intelligence, and great defense. He's like a white basketball stereotype brought to life. He gave Ohio State 4 great years, and I'm excited to see what he'll do as a pro. We're all rooting for ya, Aaron.

Huh, the Aaron Craft I was used to seeing was a cry baby that hogged the ball and pissed away as many games as he won towards the end.

^and got away with more blatant fouls than anyone on Earth. From Woj at Yahoo No pressure or anything Cleveland, but it's championship or bust this season. Either the Cavs hoist the trophy in June or the season was a failure.

Maybe? You know the pressure will be on Lebron this season. Not like it isn't every season, but you know once the season starts, the Cavs will need to be on top of their game.

They aren't better right now than 4 teams in the West. You're already planting seeds to bash Lebron in 10 months. I've already gone on record as saying I'm pro-LeBron this season, because I respected the hell out of his choice to return home to try to bring a championship to the city of Cleveland before he retires. But the Cavaliers have gone out and constructed their own version of the Heat, their own three-man All-Star team. And like the Heat in 2010, this team isn't being built to just win the Central Division or the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers didn't just ship away the first overall pick and potential future of the franchise in the hope of just getting there and coming up short. The mission is clear, they have to win a championship.
