On the one hand, I think this match is either going to be more comedy/schtick than actual match, or plain awful due to King's limitations and a clash of their styles. On the other hand, it's kind of cool that the King is doing this. Not a bad promo from him either (that Kauffman line was great and showed a glimmer of the King we know and love), and at the very least, when Steen debuts on RAW, Lawler won't be completely clueless as to who he is. Something tells me that he's not going to be getting hit with the package piledriver though.

Very enjoyable. That seemed like it came very naturally for Lawler. Let's not forget how good Lawler was in his promos during the Cole and Miz feuds. After years of selling out the Mid-South Coliseum, Lawler knows how to promote a match and a show.

How far is Fishkill from Harlem? Driving takes a little bit over an hour. By public transit it's going to be at least two and a half hours or so.

Anyone ever done the public transit thing to get there from Manhattan? What day is this again? I've taken public transit upstate before, but never specifically there. It's a pain in the tookus. You might be best off carpooling if someone else is going. On the other hand if you have some friends going with you it might not seem so bad. When I used to take public transit upstate I was by myself so it seemed to take forever. I think you can take a Hudson line train going to Poughkeepsie that would put you in the general area, but it's been a while since I've done any similar trips so I could be wrong.

Lawler can be amazing when he tries. It is unfortunate that the only heel Lawler we got to see in WWF/E was a cowardly comedy character. When serious, he can be on point and sell me on a match. If this kind of King was aroumd, he could make for a decent mouthpiece for somebody.

After years of selling out the Mid-South Coliseum, Lawler knows how to promote a match and a show. That's part of what makes it so irritating. The second he takes off his headset and picks up a mic, King can still be gold. This promo was really good, and I loved that he wasn't ashamed to reference literally anything from either man's histories.

I want more of this King, not the one we get weekly on Raw and this pretty much confirms that Steen is well on his way to WWE if he wasn't before. Just need to get the medical (and visa?) sorted

I feel like Jerry Lawler is kind of in the same place right now as late WCW Bobby Heenan, in that it's a great example of how much a true great can stink it up when they have zero interest in the product.

Also what he used to do as color commentator doesn't really work now that the play by play generally spends the majority of time doing just about everything but PBP.

"I am the King of the Piledriver. If you don't believe me, go get a shovel and dig Andy Kaufman up and ask him! "
Pure awesomeness!
