I was one of the kids that fell hook, line, and sinker for the Virtual Boy...Even going as far as being that snarky 5th grader who had the goofy looking thing on the bus showing off its awkwardness...I even got a kid kicked off the bus for bumping against me and breaking the tripod to where you had to hold it up to use it...
I feel both shallow and pedantic now
and for what it's worth the Tennis game was a big hit on my bus...Which is something I desperately wasn't

"A sequel to Deus Ex ? Awesome !!"
I've never really recovered from the crushing disappointment of that shit biscuit of a game. And people who say 'it's a good game, just not a good Deus Ex game' are wrong as well.

Not quite that old school, but I thought WWE Raw for the X-Box would be amazing. I was wrong. Raw 2 on the other hand is possibly my all time favourite wrestling game Well the nonsensical season mode is always good for a laugh I was one of the kids that fell hook, line, and sinker for the Virtual Boy...Even going as far as being that snarky 5th grader who had the goofy looking thing on the bus showing off its awkwardness...I even got a kid kicked off the bus for bumping against me and breaking the tripod to where you had to hold it up to use it... I feel both shallow and pedantic now and for what it's worth the Tennis game was a big hit on my bus...Which is something I desperately wasn't The Virtual Boy was awesome and I will hear no words to the contrary. As for the topic at hand X-men and like Every WWF game for the NES.

Total Recall at least gave us the hilarious Broken Pixels episode where Seanbaby details how he made fun of the game on his website forever ago, and years later, one of the people who made the game angrily contacted him to complain, and how it just kept spiraling further out of control.

Didn't own it as a kid, but I'd say Ghostbusters for NES. I remember someone saying the second game was great, so I bought that and it sucked too. They were referring to the PAL version.
I almost got conned by a friend as a kid who wanted to sell me his CDI. He wouldn't let me play it first, but showed me the gameplay and I was kind of impressed, but couldn't pony up the cash. Thank God.

You might as well list every movie, TV, comic, and wrestling based game for the NES, SNES, and Genesis not involving Ninja Turtles or Power Rangers (or occasionally Spider-Man). I was expecting great things from Destroy All Humans, being a huge fan of '50s atom age sci-fi, but it was pretty underwhelming. I had issues with every Tony Hawk game after Pro Skater 4 (mainly, they all felt rushed and unpolished, like the makers were more concerned with getting the games on the shelves by the holiday season than with taking their time and perfecting them), but they were still fun and consumed hours and hours of my free time, but every game after American Wasteland was total garbage.
(Yes, PS2 is old school to me.)

Going to be that guy and go with a board game: Let is be known.....I have NEVER heard of anyone that actually PLAYED Mousetrap as intended instead of just setting up the trap and watching it.

Mouse trap is awesome. What's wrong with you people?!
The most disappointed I ever was playing a video game was when I got a Nintendo U-Force for Christmas. Holy shit did this thing suck balls. For those who don't know, it was an infrared, gesture operated controller for the NES. And it was terrible!

i didn't always make the best choices... The arcade version of that game was pretty cool though. Here's some more (some of these were rentals at least): Platoon Rambo Robowarrior X-Men Ikari Warriors II (thats the only one the video store had) Hoops Goal Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Going to be that guy and go with a board game: I used to actually play with the game like an actual toy. I devised some sort of Tom and Jerry or Three Little Pigs personality to it, the diving dude was the Tom/wolf character and the 4 mice would always torment him, sometimes a couple of them would get caught and it would be up to one lone mouse to rescue his friends. This was a LOT more fun than the actual game, which admittedly was pretty fun.

Super Mario Bros. 2 would probably top a lot of lists. I think the majority of the hate is due to the different look and feel.
