Apparently - Mike Florio said that Janay asked for leniency because "the revenue would go away" This feels really unseemly. It almost reads like Mike Florio has a source on the inside who is essentially calling Jenay Palmer a gold-digger, that she didn't want any punishment for her abusive husband because the end result would be lower numbers in the bank account. Plus, from what I've gathered, Palmer spoke with Roger Goodell while she had Ray Rice at her side, which is the last thing that victims of domestic abuse should be forced to do, to basically testify with your abuser in the same room. Meanwhile...

Yeah, this whole thing has kinda turned into a bum deal. I'm trying to stay psyched for fantasy football, but it's kinda hard.

There are many things to condemn Roger Goodell for, but indefinitely suspending Ray Rice is not one of them. It's one thing for a guy to be charged with domestic assault and it's quite another to have actual video of a player beating his wife. There's no way for that to be anything other than ridiculously bad PR for the league. Rice will be lucky if he ever plays again IMO. The backlash of a return is not something that the NFL wants to deal with at all.

If that's the case he needs to be gone immediately.

People are bitching and moaning about the change in punishment after they announced a two game suspension....
The guy beat his fiancée and was not upfront about it. I have zero sympathy for him and am very leery of anyone who tries to make him some sort of victim.

Even if he did see it when it happened, only Goodell and a few in his inner circle would have been likely to have seen it and they aren't talking. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt, the dude isn't Satan incarnate.

Rice will be lucky if he ever plays again IMO. The backlash of a return is not something that the NFL wants to deal with at all. Like I said a few pages ago, if a team finds itself in desperate need of a running back going into training camp next summer, they'll take a flier on Ray Rice. By that point, his name will be out of the headlines for long enough that attention will be shifted to another cause celebre. If Rice can still play, a team is going to take a chance on him and deal with the negative publicity that comes with it. This is the same league that welcomed back Michael Vick, Adam "Pacman" Jones, Ray Lewis, Plaxico Burress, Leonard Little, and Donte Stallworth to name a few. As long as he stays healthy and keeps his nose clean, Ray Rice will be back in the NFL. This is one of those things where we're probably going to have to take his word that the didn't see it until today. Even if he did see it when it happened, only Goodell and a few in his inner circle would have been likely to have seen it and they aren't talking. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt, the dude isn't Satan incarnate. On this point, I'll go to my grave believing Roger Goodell saw the elevator surveillance video and figured it would never see the light of day in the public. Too many reputable, in-the-know NFL media types reported over the summer that Ravens and NFL officials had seen it. Even Goodell's premier sock puppet/lapdog Peter King reported it had been seen by NFL officials before he suddenly backtracked on it today. ESPN's Chris Mortensen gave a detailed account of the purported video back in July when he wrote, "I'm told from those who have seen the video, it wasn't pretty. In fact, she attacks him—we don't know the reason why—and he strikes her, strikes her hard. And her head—according to the sources I've spoken to—struck the rail inside the elevator and she was unconscious." There's no way you could describe the video that accurately, and with that much detail, unless you've seen it.

Don't get me wrong I won't be surprised if he makes his way back to the league one day, but having that footage out there and forever hanging over his career is way different than these other guys that did crimes but didn't have video evidence lingering. That footage is out there, it's never going away, and beating a woman is one of those things that groups will always rally against. It's a much different thing when someone does something in the abstract versus actually seeing it with your own eyes IMO.

My final feelings on this:
When this tape came out showing the exact thing that happened, I had a feeling things would change because for Goodell, he could have made the poor excuse of he made a bad decision (when in reality, they thought this would just go away like most domestic violence cases in the past with the NFL and it didn't) and can't change that. But now with the new video coming out, the NFL can say this is new (even though I do believe they saw it) and both them and the Ravens can change the punishment and try to wipe away all the crap they put themselves in by making something that probably should have been done in the first place.
That exactly happened. Now they are hoping that with the right decision ultimately being done, we can ignore the screw-ups. We will see if they follow through with this stance on future cases like this (which I'm sure they won't as they never do). Also the prosecutor that saw the tape and didn't press charges is probably more than fired from his job.

A first time offender is still a first time offender.
If seeing the video changed the NFL's view changed their take. Then they just need to change their Domestic Violence suspension mandates...again.

It's amazing to see the Whole Ravens team turned on him Apparently he came back to camp and claimed she hit him and he defended himself. They trusted him and forgave him, but now this comes out and they realize he was just lying to them. I really doubt he gets another chance in the league.

just to get on another subject for a minute, what percent chance is there that Larry Fitzgerald will get me 20 points tonight so that I can win my fantasy game?
I'm thinking that it's at a reasonable 3% with a +/- margin of error of 3%

I never thought Pacman Jones would get another chance in the NFL, he's had about 4.
