That was a good episode tonight, if not a little pointless in the long run. Tyresse wasn't one of my favorite characters but I'd say I wanted him to die less than others. I really liked all the scenes with the dead characters and all those hazy shots. That's what's going through my mind most days, except the dead people. When the Govener showed up I thought that was pretty cool. I miss that guy from the show. The foreshadowing at the beginning with the funeral was awesome because I thought they were burying Beth.

Tonight on the Walking Dead: Minority Report. Well, if you know TWD and you know horror fiction, ya saw this coming. Well shot, well directed. Didn't care for the fact it was so expected and that they followed the path they have from the start of the series.
Seriously, as soon as you saw Rick was the only white guy in the truck, you knew someone was dying. Since they just added Gabe and Noah, it was going to be who it was. It was so cliche. The good thing I can say is that he has had character development for the better part of two seasons instead of 1-2 episodes before this which is what the rest got.

What's with the "only one black guy" mandate that this show apparently has?

Damn, sucks to see Tyreese go down.
Him meeting his end on a mere scouting venture makes it feel even worse too.

Yep, really bummed about Tyreese. I really like Chad L: Foleman as an actor.

They already have more than one black guy or do the priest and new kid not count?

Does it seem kind of on the nose that the black person is often the "soul" of the show? T-Dawg for a bit, Bob, Tyreese, and it looks like Michonne now.
So, a few issues with this episode and the by extension the previous. Last season the group showed an huge lack of strategy when they did the exchange in the hospital instead of neutral or controlled ground. That is a major lack of foresight. Then in this episode Rick shows outstanding foresight by realizing how indefensible that town is when Michonne wants to set up there.
Then when they realize they need to cauterize Tyreese's wound, they decide to speed off to do it. They needed to just make a damn fire in the living room or sink, bathtub, whatever, and do it right then and there. Was it the safest spot? No, but it looked like it had two doors. One each for Glen and Michonne to defend then Rick and "Everybody Hates Noah" take care of Tyreese.
Until the last episode, the first half of this season did a good job of making them less stupid. But the last episode and this one... hooo doggy.

They already have more than one black guy or do the priest and new kid not count? It is more a line of succession. Only one can be the soul of the show at one time, one who can have development, but rather than just let a different character take focus, they kill them off.

The episode hit hard, it was so beautiful though. Out of the characters that they've killed off I think this was best one, it was a beautiful send off to Tyresse. I felt they could have done more with the character but I think they did enough to show case him and develop him well. He was not a background character. Also while they do have 8 white characters they also have 4 black characters (5 when the episode started) along with 1 Asian and 1 Hispanic character. I think most of the characters in this group have been pretty well featured and fleshed out. I don't see how they could really apply the "only one black guy" deal. In horrid movies they do a horrible job at fleshing out the hot slutty white chick and the black guy. But in this show all the black characters are strong and smart as hell. But I again I might not be seeing in the same light as Bang Bang Bart or anyone else here. If anything hispanics have not been represent in this show at all. They had the hispanic family in season 1 and Rosita now. And even then they were depicted in a strong sense and not just useless background characters. I am not trying to make it a race thing btw Im just saying that this show has a good strong cast of characters and when Tyreese died it was a big deal it was emotional and I wanted him to make it and was crushed when he didn't.

Where do Dale and Hershel fall in line with this thinking?

So let's recap...
T-Dawg dies when the black prisoner joins the group.
Black prisoner dies when Tyreese joins the group.
It was at this point the showrunners said that they didn't realize they kept doing that.
With Bob joining the crew, it seemed like the trend would be broken, but he dies when Gabriel joins the group.
Now this is the first episode with Noah a part of the group and Tyreese dies.
Like what the hell, Walking Dead?! I love you, but come on. It seems we've gone from the one black guy limit to a two black guy limit.
