I'm fixing lunch and I just got a box of frozen texas toast out of the freezer and I noticed a sticker that read "New look coming soon!" and thought-who gives a shit?
Then I started thinking about other companies updating their look and again thought "Who gives a shit?"
But they do it for some reason-my question is-has a box or logo redesign affected your enjoyment of a product?
Has anyone stopped or started buying a product because of its "New Look!"?
I will admit, I don't like the way they redid Mr. Pibb in the late 90s with yellow in the design, but I still buy it.
You guys?

I think the idea is to get casual shoppers at the supermarket to notice (or re-notice) a product they've passed over in the past.
So if you're walking along and see that Lucky Charms has a new box design it will stand out more among the wall of cereal boxes that have remain unchanged for years.
So yeah, it won't make people buy something JUST for the new look, but I think it will reinforce the idea that that particular product is still there. Like the way a new flyer reminds you of a band playing nearby. They flyer itself won't make you see the band necessarily, but it will remind you of a band that you may like is playing nearby.

If I don't a like the new look of something, I'll make fun of it for a month. I'll also randomly ask why they needed to change the look.

It's just a way to prevent a product's aesthetic from getting stale. On the surface a Texas Toast brand may not seem like it really needs to change its look, but it's necessary be it to keep things interesting or update outdated graphics and such. And, in the case of much bigger products like your Pepsis or Cokes of the world, a redesign can garner mainstream attention.

Something more hip and cool to attract the younger generation.

Also they tell you a new look is coming so people that are loyal to the brand will know to look for a new box

I've never seen a 'new look coming' announcement for any of the stuff I buy.
Sometimes I do notice that a package has changed, usually if there's still some older stock on the store shelves. Then I'll pick it up and compare, and 9 times out of 10 the new package hold less than the old one. For the same price.
Once I found that the nutritional information label had changed. The percentages had lowered. Then I noticed that the 'sample size' had also been lowered... so the food was still just as unhealthy, it just looked better on the label!

I'm a huge mark for stuff like new logos and designs. It usually gets me to buy something at least once.

No. I don't care about your logos or brand identity. If you want my patronage you get a white man in his late 30s/early 40s to rap to me why I should consider it and nothing else.

Not until we fix the yellow. Now that you mention it, there seems to be something off about the Yellow.

Texas Toast that's frozen. This isn't rocket science. Sigh.... I'm seriously missing something. Are you joking, or do you just not know what Texas toast is?

I'm seriously missing something. Are you joking, or do you just not know what Texas toast is? Seeing as how he's listed as being from the UK, he might not. "Texas Toast" is just thicker cut bread then toasted. Frozen Texas Toast is usually already kind of toasted, then frozen, and usually already has butter and maybe some seasonings on it. People then bake them in the oven.

I'm seriously missing something. Are you joking, or do you just not know what Texas toast is? Not American. Funnily enough some of us on this board aren't. So kind of like Garlic bread then. Thank you jagilki. And on topic, we had Marathons turn into Snickers.

I stopped eating Bazooka gum because they made the boxes more "hip" and got rid of the comics for awful games and raps.
