International audiences have already found a way round the geoblock (not going to say how or go into detail due to piracy laws and forum rules etc), and you're going to have to negociate with European Cable and Satellite providers who are not going to want to pay more for less, so don't expect the international rollout to help matters at all, those numbers are pretty bad IMO as amongst those 690,000 are probably international viewers

Also, if the potential subscriber timed it out right, they could order their one month in order to get two PPVs, assuming there are some instances next year where a PPV falls a little less than 30 days after the previous PPV. Yep. For example this year you could get Hell in a Cell & Survivor Series or Survivor Series & TLC during one 30-day period.

The numbers are a disaster as far as growth goes. And in about a month, they could potentially be axed in half if the original Mania XXX people say, "f*** it," and don't re-up in September. This 700,000 number isn't cemented. The real make or break numbers will be in September.
That said, the rest of WWE is performing quite well. And the Stock Market is partially basing their positive outlook on that (and rightfully so) ...all while still believing in Vince's Network wolf tickets...AGAIN.
As for Canada. As more comes out, I hope that Rogers doesn't attempt to separate the actual PPVs from the "Network" service, and charge a separate fee for them. That will be horrible for Canadians. And disastrous for Rogers. But WWE likely got their money in a lump sum offer, so they're sitting pretty no matter what. From their point of view, it's brilliant business.

The UK is WWE's second largest market outside the US. It's highly unlikely they're going to offer them a service that nobody would want to buy. It's more probably the case that they'll use Sky as partners and either give them a greater share of the traditional PPV income or a cut of the Network subscribers from the UK, or both. Never underestimate the willingness of American companies to give European consumers the shaft when it comes to localised versions of services. Sky are all about the exclusivity, I just can't see them paying more for less for a niche product like the WWE, the only way I see them giving up exclusivity on PPVs, which they specifically mentioned were still going to be sold on Sky Box Office in the press release, is if they managed to wrangle a deal where the network is exclusive to their Now TV service, which would limit potential subscribers even more than a cut down network.

McMahon would be going up against Murdoch in the UK, there is no way Sky Sports will give up exclusive rights, so I also sense a 'localised' version of the network when it launches over here, but again those 690,000 subscribers contain international viewers that have found very easy ways round the geoblock.

One scary stat that hasn't really been brought up - of the 667k who subscribed to the Network for WrestleMania, 19.2% of them (128k) cancelled the Network. So nearly one in five subscribers were just looking for a cheap way to get WrestleMania, and then pull out at the earliest opportunity. That doesn't bode well for August 24th and beyond, when renewals come up.

One month for $19.99? That still gives people a much cheaper way to watch the PPVs assuming they only want to watch a few of them like Rumble or Mania. Putting it like that makes a lot more sense to me. If you're just watching the 3 big shows (Rumble/Mania/MITB/Summerslam) that's only 80/year and during that time you can catch old ppvs and stuff.I do like NXT and I think the product has got some good things going so personally I'll keep what I have now, but I think that 20/month is good for casual fans that aren't too heavily invested. This works for me.

So basically not nearly as bad as people were making it out to be. Sounds pretty promising to me with international roll out soon

international viewers that have found very easy ways round the geoblock. As it says in the Sticky WWE network board. Do not talk about stuff like this. This goes for everyone

Personally, mine got cancelled out because I wasn't able to afford it for a month and I just haven't had the desire to renew it, but I doubt a full 20% of subscribers were unable to pay and most of them probably just didn't want to. I have the feeling come September, that number's going to be an utter disaster.

The 3rd quarter report in three months will be a much bigger story than this one.

I doubt that those numbers had a big international prsence, for my own experience, lots of friends and I don't want to buy the nwtwork since the process requires lots of things that are a drag/not worthy.
I think that numbers will go up when they release internationally, the bigger problem imo is that is super easy to share the network with friends (just give them the email/pass)

This goes for everyone I thought the rule was we couldn't talk about how. Pretending we don't know the fact people do, especially when WWE even admit themselves a small number do, is silly.

I don't really see going into foreign markets helping that much, really. There's a decent chance in the UK and Canada they might get a very stripped down version of it given their PPV deals there, the US is probably the biggest wrestling market, and they'll have to account for additional costs to run it elsewhere.

I don't see the point in rolling it out if it's a stripped down service. The international expansion is what's supposed to 'save' the Network so you're not going to give the two biggest international markets a crappy second-rate service that nobody wants. It's possible that the PPV exclusive deals refer to the broadcast media. The deal in the UK was recently signed when WWE had it's Network plans in place so I'd be very surprised if they agreed a deal that would leave the WWE Network as something for their UK audience that would be just an archive of WWE material. If they have then it was incredibly short-sighted of them. I expect the broadcast and streaming rights have been divided with Sky being given a cut of the streaming/Network subs to sweeten the deal. Or a set-up where it's only available to Sky subscribers (you have to log-in via Sky to access the Network) that way Sky get everything run exclusive through them and get admin as well as sub costs.

I read a recap of the earning call and apparently they confirmed that the international versions of the network will be indentical to the US version so just have to wait and see how that plays out

I think the 19.95 thing is mostly so people can just order Mania or the Rumble or whatever for a cheaper price, with WWE hoping that they enjoy the Network during that month and subscribe.
