But never bother to cook anything they see? I mean granted there's no law saying you have to, but I have relatives who watch cooking shows all the time, yet never cook anything from the shows. I'm wondering if people just watch them to make themselves hungry, because whenever I see one, thats all it does is make me hungry. There's nothing wrong with just watching a cooking show just to watch it, its just kinda weird to me is all.

Yeah and why do people who watch the NFL never really play it at the professional level either?

Yeah and why do people who watch the NFL never really play it at the professional level either? Not the same thing at all. I'm not talking about stuff like Kitchen Nightmares, or Iron Chef, or any competitive cooking show. I mean actual cooking shows where they are teaching an actual recipe step by step for the viewer to learn. You don't have to be a master chef to try to make something.

I think it just demystifies something generally thought to be only known by the pros. Its like a foodie version of Magicians Secrets Revealed.

I watched them all when I was dieting. I think I thought it tricked my brain into thinking I was eating something more substantial than I was.

I watch Rachael Ray and have no intention of cooking anything she cooks.

The last time I watched Rachael Ray, I was at jury duty lol, and I would definitely not make what she was cooking since it was meatloaf, and it makes me sick.

Because sometimes you find something like "At Home On The Range". It was a show where a guy cooked while his wacky assistant read emails and cracked jokes and basically annoyed the hell out of everybody. Some food was good. Some food was horrible. Every show was hilarious.

I like watching Ramsey yell at people.
I don't even particularly like food and only eat because I need to.

If I ate the things I saw on Epic Meal Time/Empire I'd die. I'd die happy though.

I watch a lot of cooking shows and I've learned quite a bit about food because of it. There are some recipes that I do because of what I've watched but I know a lot more about food than I would otherwise. When I go out to an ethnic restaurant or a more upscale one, I can understand the menu pretty well and can explain, roughly, what a lot of things are.
