IMO, the Hollow Point should be his new finish. At least that way his opponent can protect themselves. I like the Hollow Point and it has been hit cleaner than the Clash in recent months, but isn't even riskier on the opponents neck if it was to go wrong? It is, but I'd say it's harder for it to go wrong, and like I said, at least his opponent has a chance to defend himself. Styles Clash leaves 'em too defenseless IMO.

The problem with the Styles Clash is that it goes EXACTLY against your every instinct as a wrestler. You tuck your head on every bump so you don't smash the back of your skull. For a Styles Clash you have to pull your head back in the other direction. Muscle memory is hard to overcome.

Back in the days of early TNA, Styles botched the Clash on Kaz and spiked his head. Working with the same people year in and year out makes you and your opponent quite comfortable with each other. Since he left TNA for good, the number of spiking incidents have gone up. It's a combination of his new set of opponents not being familiar with taking the move and AJ dropping down too soon before his opponent can adjust & brace for impact. Once would normal but he spiked Roderick Strong, Yoshi, and broke Lionheart's neck so far. I don't think Roddy gets a pass on that one. He was in ROH around the same time Styles was and he's probably seen the Styles Clash used a thousand times. He should have known how to take it. He may have seen it but it's a whole different game when it comes to you actually have to take one.

Wow. I never thought I'd see someone pull off a double rotation moonsault. Crazy.

Hell, the first match ever on TNA Impact on Spike TV was Styles vs. Strong.

Not everyone is Daniels and can take the move in their sleep.

Interestingly enough Yoshi Tatsu has actually been pulled from the World Tag League for a neck injury. He performed on the first show before doing so so who knows if the Clash has anything to do with it or not but its likely.

Sucks that the Styles Clash is claiming so many injuries because it really is an iconic move.

For a Styles Clash you have to pull your head back in the other direction. Muscle memory is hard to overcome. Except this isn't true. You'd never, tuck your head on a front bump as you'd spike yourself. What is the Styles Clash bump wise? Yip a front bump. So natural instinct wouldn't be to tuck your head in this scenario, or it shouldn't be as your muscle memory when taking a front bump would/should kick in.

This pic's definitely not an Indy, but, it doesn't fit the timeline of WWF's Attitude Era to current, so, here it is:
