Yes, and it's a constant struggle not to go on ebay and buy as much of it as I can find My brother also had a bunch of the expansions... and didn't realize till later that it is loosely based on Warhammer.

Ah well I still have the original game with all it's contents, Although apart from Kellars Keep all the other expansions are very expensive on eBay.

Yeah, my copy got lost/thrown out/donated to science... at some point. and the expense is the main reason why I haven't tried buying them on Ebay

I had it all, once upon a time.
Sadly, lost to time and too many moves. Now, when I see the prices on eBay, I die a bit inside. Shame, so much fun.

It's basically D&D/Warhammer as a board game instead of a pen and paper roleplaying game.

It's basically D&D/Warhammer as a board game instead of a pen and paper roleplaying game. Agreed. Making it three dimensional gives it a different feel too. I loved the game and the potential stories. Disappointed we never got beyond the four expansions since I really thought it had legs.

There was that other game, Dragonstrike, that had the goofy acted VHS tape (starring Malibu of American Gladiators fame!) that was pretty much the same but it also had a bunch of different boards included (like fields and castles and such)
I remember my brother used to make campaigns using all of the boards including the hero quest one for dungeons... that was a hell of a lot of fun.

Oddly enough doing some research they actually did 6 expansions, but 2 only got US releases: HeroQuest "Kellar's Keep" HeroQuest "Return of the Witch Lord" HeroQuest "Adventure Design Kit" (Europe)* HeroQuest "Against the Ogre Horde" (Europe) HeroQuest "Wizards of Morcar" (Europe) HeroQuest "The Frozen Horror" \ "Barbarian Quest Pack" (US) HeroQuest "The Mage of the Mirror" \ "Elf Quest Pack" (US) Frozen Horror sounds quite exciting. *Design your own dungeon pack which I have, looking back made some atrocious quests

I'm 99% sure we had Frozen Horror.
At the very least I remember having ice boards and an ice golem king thing boss.
The other expansion we had all I remember the picture on the box being the dwarf and maybe the wizard on a cliff.
edit: After looking up the box art yeah we had Frozen horror and hte other was Kellar's Keep.

Heroquest is what got me into roleplaying games. It's kind of barebones but it's exactly enough. I wish I had someone to play it nowadays, I still have my old box, even if the gargoyle and barbarian figures are only held together with superglue and faith these days.
Also the combat dice have little skulls on them, which is f***ing awesome.

I did find an app on the goolge play store called Arcane quest which I have heard is "inspired" by hero quest... hte only problem is I only have it on my phone so it's not exactly the same as a big old game board... and I can't find people willing to play

My family had it. Loved it.
My dad even painted up some of the figures. Made some unique looking ones.
Don't know whatever happened to it though.

Bumpity bump bump. Me and my friends were playing random board games this weekend, and Heroquest came up randomly during play. The next day one of my friends called up excitedly he decided to search through his parent's basement and actually found it Though he said he is missing a few pieces like the Wizard appears to have disappeared. We are totally playing it the next time he comes up from Maryland

First encounter I ever had with anything D&D related. And, shortly after, 40k related with Space Crusade.
Played both a ton when I was younger. Come to think of it, I also had Advanced Heroquest when it came out later on. That was pretty good too.

It's from Gamesworkshop not Wizards of the Coast so it's Warhammer related

It was one of the board games my babysitter would bring over when I was a kid. Also included in that collection was this gem
