They've said we can't sign up until 8pm tomorrow, which is a good sign as I suppose they've been getting lots of questions on it.
I wonder how they'll promote it because if they go with "$9.99" most people won't be bothered to work out the exchange rate difference, whereas £6.50, or whatever it works out to, sounds lower but it'd require a different marketing campaign for the price.

We'll be hearing #FreeFreeFree all month so gives them time to change marketing strategy if they wish

Good point that, if they do simply use the $9.99 advertising, considering the utter stupidity of large portions of the human race, I wonder how many are put off because they don't want to spend 10 quid on the product.

I'm sure it's much, much easier from a marketing perspective just to make the price $9.99 across the board, particularly with so many countries to consider now (some of which also use dollars of varying degrees of value versus the US dollar), and there's also the fact that values of currency will fluctuate with the exchange rate, so what's equal to $9.99 now might not be next week/month/year, so by pricing in USD they'll always receive the exact same payment from everybody, everywhere.
Having said that. it does strike me as a little odd that they're making precisely zero attempt to even acknowledge that other currencies exist. Other companies seem to manage to price things in other currencies, even with a worldwide presence. It's a bit culturally blind, for lack of a better description, it seems to reinforce the accusation that WWE couldn't give a flying wotsit about countries outside of their own.
However, I'm not complaining because it's not that difficult to account for the exchange, and if it had been another company, or priced in £GBP, it might have been £9.99 instead, allowing for taxes and the usual "what the market will bear" shafting we often seem to get. So consider me happy, 6 or 7 quid for the PPVs and access to the WWE video vault (albeit currently incomplete)? Hell yeah.

9.99 stands the chance of really harming it here as many people will think "ten quid". It isn't like the US/Canada thing where most people have a vague idea of how much US is worth CAN and visa versa. Here I'd guess 85% of people have no clue between the exR of the £/$ and will probably just think "Tenner for Network then" - which could put some people off.
£7 and £10 aren't that different but as any retailer will tell you it's psychologically VERY different. It's been proven that impulse buys are affected by price. Which is where the .99 comes from in the first place. If it wsn't important they'd pitch it at 10 bucks.

It's been proven that impulse buys are affected by price. Which is where the .99 comes from in the first place. If it wsn't important they'd pitch it at 10 bucks. Not to mention "nine ninety-nine" has a much better vocal metre for promos than "ten bucks". I generally go by the rule of "half the USD price, and add a bit" or "twice the GBP price, and deduct a bit", which is entirely unscientific, but it works more or less because the value is never static, so $9.99 would always be "about 7 quid" to me. It's a fair point though, I don't know how many people generally keep up with exchange rates, and it does sound like much less of a good deal if you assume it to be £10. As for the difference between £7 and £10, I think that's demonstrable, Netflix is 6 quid, but if they were to say "we're upping the price by 3 or 4 quid", I'm sure it'd make people hesitate, even if they consider it worth the money. Especially if you use a lot of online video services to get all the things you're after, an extra few quid here and an extra couple of quid there starts to add up. Edit: Although, now I think about it, that's not entirely comparable, because you'd already have been getting the same content for less money. I do think people would probably be less willing to splurge £10 on a whim than £6-7 though.

Can't believe the mainstream media missed this. Earlier on today at Buckingham Palace, they celebrated the UK launch of the Network by playing Macho Man's theme to the crowd

If the video played on after the 6 mins mark is when Liz grabs the mic and starts the crowd in a '9.99' chant frenzy

I still am stuck on the lack of mention for PS3/PS4 apps for the UK Network so far. Another point is that the Network at first launch - in February - had apps for all the devices covered already yet in NOVEMBER, for us UK plebs, we have to rely on the web browser method mainly as I'll be damned if I am sitting watching it on my phone.
They have not planned this UK launch at all, have they?

I hear the delay with the PS4 thing is because they have to get distribution of the app cleared with Sony and maybe they've not heard back yet or they have and it's going to be ready not for a couple of weeks and rather than delay the whole thing they've launched it across other platforms except that for now

And we cross live to Central London. The WWE Network UK is a heartbeat away..... Congratulations everyone. Now it's just 20 small hours until we can register for it...

After the best part of a year waiting for this to happen, today is going to feel like the clocks are actually going backwards.
8pm cannot come soon enough!

It would be bad business to immediately stop offering them on Sky Box Office.
