As much as I love wrestling now, I don't think I'll ever enjoy it as much as when I was a kid/teenager. In some ways I'm lucky as I got to experience the end of the rock n wrestling era and the complete attitude era. Kids who are fans now may still be fans in 20 years, but I don't know if they'll ever enjoy it this much. Compared to those two previous eras I'd feel jipped.

I'd love it because I wouldn't know any better. You'd have people arguing that they felt sorry for kids growing up with Hogan because they missed out on Bruno and those who grew up with Austin because they missed Hogan.
Cena is an epic guy to be a fan of if you are a kid. We never acknowledge it because we aren't kids. We don't have that mentality.

Adults always like their era better, whether it's music, film or wrestling. There's plenty for kids to enjoy right now, it's mostly aimed at them unlike other eras, except maybe Hogan's era.

No.
I remember when I was a teenager during the Monday Night Wars and ECW, and I remember my grandpa saying that it wasn't as good as in the old days. Kids that start watching now are going to view this as how wrestling should be, so when they go back and watch stuff from the Rock n Wrestling era or Attitude era they might think it sucks, because they didn't see it in context with the world the way it was in the 80's and 90's.
It's just a case of you being from a previous generation and thinking your era was better. That being said, it would be nice if the shows were booked a little better, but now compared to say 2009 I would say is big progress as far the product quality goes.

I spent some of my young teen years watching the InVasion.
No, I don't feel sorry for today's kids.

It sucks that they won't have the options available that I had growing up. For me, I could watch WWE, WCW, and ECW on national television and all they get as an alternative is TNA...

I first started watching 1993 and got into WWF hardcore in 1995. I can look back now and see that Diesel vs King Mabel was a crap feud, but when I was 12-13 I thought it was great. Kids don't usually have very discerning tastes.

No way! They get the fun characters, action packed matches, the odd insane ladder match here and there, vince's dumb jokes, unlimited access to the past 25/years of wrestling, including the wild west that was the attitude era, plus they can get closer to their heroes than I ever could by using twitter and co.

Cena is an epic guy to be a fan of if you are a kid. We never acknowledge it because we aren't kids. We don't have that mentality.100% this. When I was a kid I had Hogan, Savage and Bret, who were great, but are they actual real superheroes like Cena? Who they can dress like and has catchphrases and bright clothes? I see little kids (especially boys) everywhere in full Cena gear who clearly idolise the guy. When they grow up they'll have memories of when Cena was their hero. It only seems lame to us because we're adults. If Hogan in his prime existed now we'd probably all hate him. When I was 12 I loved Too Cool who, in hindsight, were terrible. Wrestling is much more fun in a child's mentality and willing Cena on is part of the fun.

Kids - No, they have it better than I did. Teens - Yes, the attitude era was the perfect time to be a teen fan.

That's simply not true. Sure it is for some people that get stuck in the past. I'm 40 and I think music is as good as it's ever been (not on the radio, but online) and tv is easily better than it's ever been. Movies have been shit for the past decade though. Rock and wrestling and Attitude were better than today. Listen to those crowds and compare them to crowds today.

Adults always like their era better, whether it's music, film or wrestling. Very true. And that was true in the 80s and 90s also- plenty of adult fans were absolutely horrified by what wrestling had become. It was better "back then". Everything's always better "back then." That's one of the great things about being a kid - the passion you have for pro wrestling, or your sports team, or Christmas morning. Those things usually fade as you get older and other things become more important.

There's nothing wrong with this era. Personally, the worst era seems to be the early 1980s and 1990s imo. That just seems like a festival of crap gimmicks, crap wrestlers and boring feuds. I mean, one of the most dastardly heel acts during that era is Roddy Piper hitting someone with a coconut... Another highlight is Hogan delivering a bog-standard body-slam.

HOWEVER, i was proud of myself for not buying into made in the USA lex luger. even as a 9 year old, I was rolling my eyes during that "I'LL BE YOUR HEEEEEEERO" music video.

I watch wrestling with kids they f***ing love it.They mark for guys like Cena,Swagger ,Ambrose,Reigns and DBry but seem to resent guys like Cesaro, Fandango and Adam Rose so I don't know what their criteria is but overall they love what they see on tv.

Piper was also being very racist and insulting to Snuka before he did that. People wanted to see Snuka kick his ass. Wrestling at it's simplest and most effective. Piper also kicked Cindy Lauper in the ribs. I can't even imagine them trying something like that today. What is the worst thing a heel does today? Give a rambling, nonsensical promo every week, lose clean then get a rematch?
