2 followed by the first and the sixth. I may as well rank them while I'm at it:
2 1 6 5 4 7 3

The original is clearly the best.
Saw 3D: The Final Chapter was possibly the worst film I have gone to the cinema to see.

The original is clearly the best. Saw 3D: The Final Chapter was possibly the worst film I have gone to the cinema to see. Watching them all a lot the past 3 weeks or so, I would change my personal ranking to put 3D as the worst, followed by 5 and then 2. The rest I think are peaches. 3D doesn't really carry through with the crazy continuity webbing (as we saw with 4-6), and my guess is that they were trying to make it more accessible to people who only saw saw. The Hoffman/Jill storyline should be really interesting at the point where 6 leaves off, and 3D gives no f***s toward addressing it, giving him what kinda feels like an obligatory supporting presence.

Interestingly I have only seen 1,2 & 3D. It made no difference to me that I had not seen the others it was still bad.

You can tell that the lackluster nature of SAW 3D was due to the rushed production, the lack of interest via of the director due to Lionsgate forcing him onto the project, and how certain loose ends weren't explored to their fullest potential.
The only great things about it in my opinion was the introduction of Gordon, Hoffman slaughtering everyone in the hospital, and the ending of course. I can agree that it's entirely forgettable.

7 felt very rushed, like they didn't care about it. It was like "Next!"

For fun and keeping with the discussion, I'll also list my favorite trap per film:
1 - Jaw Splitter 2 - Needle Pit 3 - The Rack 4 - Knife Chair 5 - Pendulum 6 - Steam Maze 7 - Garage/Car Trap
My overall favorite has got to be the Needle Pit. Such a nasty yet brilliant trap.

I heard about the re-release of the first movie that's coming this October, can't wait. It's the only one of the seven I never saw theatrically and I aim to remedy that.

Considering how John Kramer died at the end of 3, I went into the fourth movie expecting it to be a horrible cash grab, but I was fairly impressed on how they were able to expand the story and set things up for the next few movies.
Then five pissed it all away and while better, six didn't do enough to fix it. Seven was just lousy.
They didn't have things planned out well enough. Setting up likeable police/FBI people just to kill them off instead of having the satisfying payoff of one of Kerry/Riggs/Strahm/Perez be the one to catch Hoffman in the end, instead we get some poorly established backstory guy in seven... who doesn't even catch him.
That plus the insistence that every movie end with a twist and that every main game end in a downer caused the downfall of the series. By the end, a happy ending would've been a twist.
Having Dr. "I cut my leg off to go save my family, only to immediately help the guy who put me and them in that position. Because I love my family enough to mutilate myself, but not enough to not do things that would put me in jail if I get caught and leave them with no husband/father anyway" Gordon lock Hoffman in that room just didn't cut it.

It was pretty evident that after 3 the series was put in a bad spot.

Thought I'd share this with any Saw fans here, the rare animated version of the prequel comic, Saw: Rebirth

Oh yeah, has anyone marathoned the whole series in a row? I do it every October and this year will be no different.

I really feel like a marathon is the only way to watch Saw movies, shame there are so many now that it's not as easy as when there were just 4 or 5 of em.

Ah, the memories of 2005-2010, marathoning the prior Saw films all the day the day before the newest entry saw release.

And those things really aren't even movies! We had a good thing going with Saw.

Nothing is as bad as Saw VI, at least 3D had the opening sequence and a neat wrap up.

In all fairness, much of the general public had tired of the series by the time Saw VI was out, so the series fading away was only a matter of time.
