I'm also going to take this opportunity to sound off about something that actually freaked me out pretty good when I was in high school: the gym teacher, Mr Cardidio. The man was the stereotypical gym teacher, muscular with brush cut hair-and he was a complete and utter robot! He talked in this totally flat, unemotional voice and every class had us go through the same warm up routine, I can still his voice telling us "Into the crane! Hitch kick through!" or "Close grippers, diamonds if your strong!" Four straight years of this. I seriously thought that if I saw him without a shirt there would be bolts on his torso for his masters to preform maintenance on him. But that wasn't even the freaky part. The freaky part was that my jr. high gym teacher, Mr Bell, looked, talked, and acted exactly like him! I would have sworn they were clones. And when I thought about my grade school gym teacher, Mr Catalano, I find myself thinking "If you shaved off the beard..." I half believe that there is a giant machine somewhere churning these guys out!

In 7th grade, my teacher took us to a Pippy Longstocking play for 1st graders. I have no idea why, and I don't think she did either, because she later apologized.
In high school, I went to a school named Notre Dame. We watched Rudy. Annually.

'Earth Warp' creeped the everloving shit out of me. The theme still haunts me.
And now I'm remembering 'Through the Dragon's Eye' and 'Geordie Racer'. They, on the other hand, were awesome.

Those with explicit footage of mutilated bodies on actual crash sites while a voice-over mocks the victims that the US apparently have? Yep! Has there ever been an official word on who the f*** thought that was a good idea? Aside from how questionable "scare them straight" tactics are, what on earth is it supposed to teach people about safe driving? That if you're not careful some asshole will mock your still warm remains? Also, while I knew about those, I had no idea they showed them to children, because what could possibly go wrong with showing kids the aftermath of genuine, graphic deaths and encouraging them to mock the victims? Respect of human life, schmespect of human life.

I had to watch Happy Feet literally 26 times, and I hated that movie the first time. Every time one of my teachers was out that was the only movie we were allowed to watch.

We never watched the driver's ed horror videos, but instead, had a safety instructions one that was very obviously from around 1991. I saw it in 2003, and was geeking out so hard. It had tips from Hulk Hogan, MC Hammer, the Ninja Turtles, etc., etc.
Man, oh man, how I wish I could find a copy.

Not actually in class, but the classroom next to mine were playing a video that suggested men that watched action based programming were either psychopaths or secretly weak hearted.

I had to watch some really terrible music videos in the morning before high school morning announcements. My brother and sister occasionally reference the more cringe-worthy lines occasionally. Luckily never had to watch a gorey drivers ed film... I did have to watch a film but it was basically a guy yelling pay the f*** attention or you can kill someone.

I've gone to Catholic school since preschool, so in 8th grade the sex ed was a video about abstinence starring a woman named Pam Stenzel. Just an obnoxious, grating person. It did lead to this conversation between two guys later that day though.
"Y'know, me and Pam have something in common. "
"You were both rape babies?"
"No, we both educate youth on the dangers of premarital sex."
"Oh."
And this past year, the entire fourth quarter of my theology class was my teacher popping in random videos in his VCR and asking us to relate it to theology. Like, he'd put in a taped copy of the music video for Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson, ask "Think:why is there crime?" and just straight up leave the classroom. This was every day for like two months.
Oh, and my first day in drivers ed we watched a video and I swear to God one of the people in it was a younger looking Darren Young.

Um, Driver's Ed films, childbirth footage, videos about medical maladies in Biology, Michael Bay's "The Island", a Lord of the Flies adaptation. Just so many horrors.

Forcing kids to watch the Island... that sounds like a form of abuse... Not only that, because half the class were underclassmen they had to get their parents to sign a permission slip to allow them to watch it so parents had to give the okay to have that film inflicted on their children.

In high school, a scare video on abortions, with actual footage of said abortions, for at least 20 minutes.
Luckily, I had to wear glasses back then, so I simply took off my glasses and took in the blurry ignorance.

Not linking because it's just that awful (it's on Youtube!), but this 10-part series called You Can Choose. Ugh.
