If we're going to count The Internship (where the google placement was the whole point of the movie) then The Social Network which was basically Facebook: The Movie. While I can accept that, it was more the founding of the site and didn't exactly put the founders in the best light. Meanwhile, The Internship had a 10 minute sequence showing How Google Can Work for YOUR Small Business!

Would Macy Gray in Spider-Man count?
She was basically there to promote Sony Records.

I remember a whole sequence in the movie Funny People basically centered on promoting Myspace and even had the line "f*** Facebook". Funny thing is that this was released in 2009 and I think Mypsace was already on the way out by then.

The placement of the Bing search engine in The Amazing Spiderman was the worst I've ever noticed. Peter Parker solved the mysteries of his childhood with like one or two bing searches. Not exactly subtle.

Starbucks in Fight Club. Apparently it was a joke though.

Inspector Gadget (Live Action) with the bad guy's car crashing into a billboard for YAHOO! complete with the Yahoooooo jingle used for a comedic sound effect.
There were also blatant plugs for Skittles, Sports Illustrated and Disney ("Hey it's a Disney film!)

Not exactly subtle. I find it hilarious in the sequel he uses Google instead. For a movie I saw recently Draft Day is really shameless when it comes to promoting: -GMC -Samsung Phones -The NFL

Subway in the remake of Red Dawn. Subway Sandwiches are so good that our local rag-tag group of freedom fighters would be willing to risk life and limb fighting North Korean soldiers for the tasty goodness of Subway. It was kind of ridiculous.
Don't worry America, Subway will still be in business offering $5 foot longs if we are ever implausibly invaded by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and their delicious, affordable sandwiches will surely fuel our rebellion.

Back to the Future almost had one. As one of the original scripts had the secret to time travel being Coca-cola. Josie and the Pussycats (yeah I watched it recently....I'm so ashamed) The fact its so shameless is the joke. I loved it. Yeah, they apparently made no money on the advertisements it was an inside joke based on the story.

It's fine if done as a satire, or to make the movie's setting more realistic
But I agree with the "I, Robot" example. It's just completely blatant and irrelevant to the film

Not a movie but Smallville did an episode that was basically a 40 minute commercial for stride gum.

"Happy Gilmore" felt like a commercial for Subway as well. Also, "This Is The End" and Milky Way. Oh, wait, did you say shameful? Never mind.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned "Bye Bye Love" and the McDonald's product placement.

Two that come to mind is The Internship with Google and The Chef (2014) with Twitter. I was at a video store the other day (or whatever we call DVD stores now?) and they played a trailer for CHEF. The word "Tweet" was used at least 6 times. I can only imagine how much more it's in the movie...

Demolition Man where all the restaurants of the future are taco bell. oh and independence day with the mac power book. and lets not forget ET and his reeces pieces.

I watched Chef a couple of nights ago and I'm pretty sure Twitter sponsored that movie.
