I'm gonna say it. I like Rosa. She's a goddamn abortion in the ring, but she always seems so earnest about wrestling it's hard to not like her. Some people will just never be any good at what they want to do, but bless them for trying. I can understand liking someone in spite of their limitations. But it still kind of bugs me how she gets so much TV time in spite of seemingly never improving just because of her relationship with Michael Hayes I've said it before, but it seems like no one can get by on being "pretty good" anymore. To me it seems that if you aren't a totally amazing wrestling dynamo, you have to be laughably bad to have any sort of "value" and that doesn't sit well with me. Oh I totally agree with you, there is absolutely no good reason for Rosa to be employed still. I'd argue she gets about as much TV time as she deserves however; she has a two or three-week period where she wrestles in a couple of tag matches, then disappears for a few months, rinse then repeat.

I know we've made fun of Rosa speaking Spanish when she was with Primo and Epico and how she only seemed to repeat the same basic phrases over and over. I don't mean to be mean, but when I watched that interview I realized its not that she's bad at speaking Spanish, she's just bad a speaking. So top that off with not being able to wrestle, her value to the company is...

most depressing than Stevie Richards? the guy had very early on, but spent years doing nothing after that. Funaki also comes to mind Hey, Stevie Richards beat Kevin Thorn three weeks in a row. That's a career. Don't you ever say Stevie never did anything worth of notice! www.youtube.com/watch?v=zISLXm2rD4s

I figured she seemed to speak alright that video. She managed to keep a positive attitude and keep things moving along while acknowledging that she hadn't won a match. That's actually surprising, I figured she would have had a couple wins when they were giving her the Mickie James treatment with Beth Phoenix (except that unlike Mickie, she didn't have the talent to come close to her mentor).
One thing though, a lot of people say she's still working because of Hayes. I honestly think it's more that she's hot and doesn't seem to rock the boat. It's not like WWE hasn't hired tons of hot women who can't wrestle or talk worth a damn in the past. Yeah a lot of them are used as valets but just as many were thrown in the ring for slapfights and bra and panty matches and whatnot.

Funaki also comes to mind Stevie had RTC, his run as Victoria's bitch, the hardcore title and plenty of good/solid matches on the C shows even when in jobberhood. We should all be so lucky to be Victoria's bitch.

Also, I think the reason she repeats simple Spanish phrases so much is that she doesn't really know much Spanish. She's probably given a few phrases to augment a promo and just keeps saying them because she can't think of any others. It's kind of like in porn when the two actors repeat the same 2 lines to each other with minor variations for a couple minutes because neither seems to know how to progress the scene.

I've always kinda liked Rosa for some reason. She sucks terribly but I always found her stuff with Ryder fun and think she does make a good valet. I appreciate that the past year or more she's been getting into shape and at least trying to improve, even if it is just a tinnie tiny little bit. Not gonna lie, I kinda hope she does manage to get a win on TV somewhere soon with Total Divas returning.

Rosa Mendes is employed in wrestling. Beth Phoenix is not. That's just wrong beth retired by choice. and had a baby earlier this year. I know that. I'm just saying it's wrong. To be fair to Rosa, has she ever even had a chance to be good at anything? Other than her brief time as Beth's superfan, I'm struggling to think of anything she's actually done

That interview has a sad undertone to it. From the "never won a match" bombshell to the fact that she doesn't even have a Total Divas storyline to pimp (instead going for the generic, "there'll be tears and laughter") it just all seems...kinda sad. This is her big opportunity to finally be of use to the company, but what if she botches this too? Maybe that's going through her head. She's sounds so proud to be wrestling four matches a week. They're tag matches where, guaranteed, she's the one in the ring the least amount of time. She had her best televised match last month against Naomi and it was pretty blah for a Naomi match. Eight years in a job and nothing to show for it. God, I kinda want her to succeed with this now otherwise she's had one of the most depressing WWE careers ever. I'm reluctant to put a sad spin on it in case Rosa sees nothing wrong with her situation and actually likes Hayes. If not though, considering her drinking problems and all else, there is something unfortunate to her situation. That's why I felt Masters was absolutely classless, tweeting about her and JTG after his second release - if WWE still wanted the guy, he'd be employed. Rosa isn't stopping that. I also feel the same about fans who. go.. 'Rosa is employed but my favorite isn't?' They're blaming the wrong person.

I think the "X is employed but Y isn't" complaints are valid depending on the names involved. It's not Rosa's fault, but WWE shouldn't value her more than they value someone who can actually work. Someone of Rosa's talent level should not have been viewed as somehow less expendable than someone like Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal, Brodus Clay, Curt Hawkins, Evan Bourne, JTG or even Aksana once it came time to cut costs. A guy like Chris Masters has every right to be bitter and take shots at less talented people getting a free ride for favoritism. He worked hard to improve in the ring was never rewarded for his efforts to get better.

Taking shots at co-workers specifically, naming names, just comes across as petty especially when more and more are shying away from the needlessly scathing shoot interviews.

Especially when you consider half the guys he's called out could be just as good as or better than he is given enough time, seeing as they aren't half as shit as he was when he came in. #OriginalBodyGuy #SaySorryToStevie
