This comes in two parts:
Back in 2012 I was getting ready to attend the "Big Two" of British metal fests (or I thought they were at the time) Download and Sonisphere, however Sonisphere 2012 was cancelled and I ended up breaking my foot which prevented me from going to Download at which point I discovered a small, independent metal festival called Bloodstock that was being held at Derbyshire, I attended it (mostly because one of the bands I wanted to see at Download, Machine Head, were the Saturday headliners) and since then I've attended two more Bloodstocks, saw bands that would never get a chance to shine at the bigger festivals like Testament and Exodus, met metalheads that I knew from Facebook in person for the first time and I've never looked back.
The other part is tied to this year's Bloodstock which was two weeks ago, on the Friday they were doing Live Band Karaoke on the Sophie Lancaster Stage (their second stage) and I took part doing a great cover of Iron Maiden's The Trooper that I got praise for throughout the rest of the weekend to the point were one guy asked to have his photo taken with me.

I have five big ones:
Taking care of my grandmother after college instead of seriously looking for a job. It screwed up my chances of ever getting a stable "9 to 5" like my wife has - more than one potential employer/headhunter has told me that - but I don't care. It was more than worth it.
Moving to Atlanta (ten hours away) on a moment's notice. Planning a move to a place I had never been to in three weeks was difficult, but I'm glad I did it. It allowed the wife and I to discover who we were without having to please and/or conform to our families' expectations.
Coming out to my wife about... Let's say "trans things" while hiding it from my parents. My wife needed to know, and she's totally supportive. My parents, especially my dad, couldn't handle it. That's the great thing about living ten hours away - everything can be hidden before they arrive.
Stopping the job hunt in order to work on my novel. My wife makes good money, and everyone who counts is totally supportive. (You know that "dad disapproves of his son's nontraditional work choices" stereotype? Yeah... My dad is the exact opposite. He was actually disappointed when I got a temp job.)
Going to jail. As I've mentioned before, I spent five days last January in a county jail an hour away from home for not paying a speeding ticket. It was there that I learned my ADD could be controlled without Adderall. I not only feel better than I have in a decade, it saves us $55 a month and days of arguing with pharmacists and insurance companies. Sure the savings are completely negated by my probation, but hey... That's up in January.
