Tom's ok but I like Scott Stanford. He's awesome.
My ideal team.
Cole/Regal for Raw
Stamford/Regal for Smackdown

It was obvious that Cole was still lead announcer, even if he'd gotten bumped onto color for some reason. Him and JBL walked all over Phillips.

An utter shame, really: I thought Phillips was quite good against Cole and JBL. I'm hoping at some point JBL gets bumped from Smackdown - Cole's tolerable on his own or with Lawler even, but JBL talks over everyone far too much and needs seriously to be reined in.

I thought Tom was fine, but sometimes it's hard to tell him and Michael Cole apart. Is that just me? He does sound a lot like Cole. I forgot he was there for quite a while since he doesn't really have a character yet so usually it just sounded like Cole was talking normally.

I love Renee, but I feel she's almost wasted on commentary. She's the best interviewer since Mean Gene Okeland and really excels at that role.

Tom Phillips is actually great on the App during RAW. He's happy to play the fool, quick witted, seems good friends with a lot of the mid-card talent with the way they banter with each other and generally seems happy.
Better than Josh Matthews in every way. I imagine he'll develop into some respected announcer in the course of time. He's a rookie on TV at present. He's also one of the top three commentators on NXT.

Tom Phillips is okay, but I agree that it's tough to picture him succeeding if he has to deal with JBL and Cole being pillocks all the time.
I just wish the WWE would clean house, at the announcers' table, and either bring up the likes of Regal from NXT, or try out some older guys who might be looking to hang up their tights. What about Christian? He's got to be practically done with the in-ring career, and he's always been a good promo guy. I could see him making a very nice colour commentator.

Yea a heel Christian on commentary would be gold.

Yea a heel Christian on commentary would be gold. I think he'd be great. Arrogant, obnoxious heel commentator Christian? Plus, he's much less of a blowhard than JBL ever could be. And the good thing about him is, he could play the face if asked, as well.

He'd be like CM Punk but not trying to get himself over every 2 minutes like he did.

I like Tom, so congrats to him. Just weird still having Cole on the team as color.
