I haven't watched a ton of WCW stuff on the Network but watching Fall Brawl 1998 right now and they've dubbed in Jericho's WWF theme. Do they do that for all of his WCW stuff and if so why? I seem to remember reading Jericho's book that his WCW music was pretty generic, I can't imagine they would have had to pay extra for it.

They only do it at certain points - it wasn't dubbed when I watched World War 3 1996 (or at least if it was it was with a generic track), they used Break the Walls Down on Halloween Havoc 1998.

Isn't it because it's too similar to the Evenflow song by Pearl Jam? So maybe WWE would have to pay royalties to Pearl Jam if they used Jericho's old music?

His Mammoth knockoff seems to be OK but his Pearl Jam ripoff gets dubbed out.

They wouldn't have to pay royalties to Pearl Jam, as it's not Evenflow, but evidently there is some cost associated with the track so it makes more sense to dub over it.

I wouldn't be shocked if Jericho just went back in time and changed all of his themes to "Break the Walls Down"...

While it's not Evenflow, ripoff songs have been edited out off the Network (DDP's, Jarrett's, Douglas's) for being too close to the original despite being owned by WWE now. Jericho's Evenflow ripoff is a stock music track released by Aircraft, which WWE has edited off some DVD releases in the past. That makes me think there's some royalty issues behind it, as well as the habit of ripoff songs being edited out.

Many WCW themes which used to be intact on DVDs are now dubbed-over on the Network. No, not the Jimmy Papa themes. Those are back in. These include DDP, Raven, and Chris Jericho. I don't know why these themes are suddenly being dubbed over. I believe Jimmy Hart composed them with his songwriting parter. As I said, they have also been on DVDs. They even included a music video for DDP's theme on the first Nitro DVD. WWE would not have to pay royalties to Pearl Jam or Nirvana due to these themes because they aren't the same compositions.

I swear I've watched WCW footage on the Network where his original music is present.

ECW was heavily edited. I heard Vance Archer's theme at one point. Haven't gotten around to WCW yet.

ECW was heavily edited. I heard Vance Archer's theme at one point. Haven't gotten around to WCW yet. ECW used commercial music except for a few themes made specifically for ECW by Harry Slash. Almost all the music from ECW has to be dubbed-over. WCW used production music and themes written by Jimmy Papa (early/mid 1990s) and Jimmy Hart (mid/late 1990s). The big exception was when Sting used Metallica toward the end of WCW. WCW is able to use the Jimmy Papa music (they didn't use them when the Network first started) and they use SOME of Jimmy Hart's themes. I really don't know why they dub over some of Jimmy Hart's themes, but not others. WWE uses SOME of the production music and edits out others.

Thankfully, Mike Awesome's glorious ECW entrance theme is intact.

The Very Best of Monday Nitro left his original music intact. I hate that they dubbed over his WCW song with Break The Walls Down. It really takes me out of the moment.

I'm surprised that they allow his first theme to be used, since its an actual song (in fact, im wondering how it became stock wcw music in the first place, ditto benoit's 97-99 theme which is also a real song).

That's too bad. I love both of Jericho's WCW themes way more than Break the Walls Down.

It is infact a knockoff of a real song. The real song is All the Days by Mammoth but the knockoff is The Days of My Life (B) from the Chappell library.

I noticed on a 2006 ECW Bloodiest matches DVD they put Rey's 2002-2006 theme on his match with Psicosis(sorry if mispelled.)
