I have an older brother, he's like 5 or 6 years older than I (I haven't got a clue, I'm dumb). I got to play with his G.I. Joe's and Transformers.
He kicked my ass one time because I threw his MossMan figure in the deep of the woods, because he was made of Moss, and my responce was, 'that's where he's from. I was sending him back home.' Then I got the crap beat out of me.
One time, we were coming hom from school and while he was unlocking the door, I was holding his books, and I got tired of waiting for him, so when his back was turned, I threw his 3 or so books at him. He yelled. I ran. Then I got the poop kicked out of me again. It was unfair, I'm such a small fellow, he's mean.

My theory is that there would be no such thing as only children if the first kid didn't disappoint the parents. I'm the oldest in my family, so I knew I had to be amazing so that I could have brothers (or sisters I guess, but they didn't happen that way.) I ended up with 2 brothers, so I must have been super special.
But seriously, siblings are not the best thing in the world. I think this will always be a grass is always greener type thing.

Absolutely. My hubs is an only and has said that he often wished for a brother or sister. And I was the other way around, wishing the gypsies would show up for mine.

You would say the opposite if you were a sibling QFT. I wish I was a only child sometimes, can't get any peace around here. QFT

I'm an only child.
I hated it when I was younger, because I always wanted someone to play with. Now, though, I realize that I wouldn't have the opportunities I have now in college if I had siblings. My mom raised me for 4 years alone and with my step-dad still had some financial trouble, but she made it work. With a sibling, there wouldn't be any money and we'd be living a much different life.
So, I'm happy to be an only child. Plus, it's easier to compete with yourself instead of a sibling. You can set the bar as high as you want and choose when and how you want to top it. Being an only child has been an asset to me my whole life, so I don't think I'd change it.
Plus I think if I had a little brother (which was always my dream as a kid) he would bug the crap out of me and I wouldn't have any desire to have kids of my own, which would really piss my mom off.
