I'm really not pleased with Regal being given the role of GM for NXT. One, it means he'll barely be on the show except to make BS "decisions" and also it means he's probably gone from commentary, leaving Tensai (tolerable), Saxton (bad) and Riley (possibly the worst ever). Renee is fine (in more ways than one) but she was at her best alongside Regal.
Yes. Not happy with this at all.

I don't know how you can insult Saxton and then praise Renee, who is unbelievably bad at commentary.

It means we'll probably get to hear his music some more, but yeah, certainly bittersweet.

He hasn't been on commentary for a few weeks anyway so if you've made it this far, you should be fine.

Regal really is been wasted by the WWE now.
He should either be a manager on the main show, a commentator on the main show or, if they don't him on television for whatever reason, the head of NXT training rather than DeMott.

Maybe this should be in the unpopular opinions thread but I'll say it here. I don't get the love for Regal's commentary. He isn't awful but he's 'meh' at best.

I totally agree that he should be the head trainer. I think a lot of these homegrown talents who get written off as being "bad wrestlers" would be better off if they had been trained by Regal instead of DeMott.

I get the love because he is great to listen to (his podcasts with Austin were 60 minutes but felt like 5 minutes), but I don't see why people think he is any sort of possibility for commentary on the main WWE product. He is way too quite, way too reserved, and by his own admission stammers and stumbles over his words too much.

Hopefully, WWE remembers how great he was as Commissioner and give him more air time. Admittedly, that would be tough, since the show's only an hour long, but it'd be nice to see.

I think he'll be like Nigel and do commentary for big matches, or maybe big shows like the Takeover-type specials.

He puts over match strategy, gives interesting explanations for frequent odd occurrences in wrestling (like guys laying around outside during triple threats), and most of all, adds to guys' gimmicks with outlandish kayfabe. The stuff he rattled off for the Vaudevillains alone is enough to qualify as a top-tier commentator in my book; the way he helped develop Tyler Breeze's character through commentary is even better.

Renee on commentary: *silence | | | | | *wrestler hits move "OH!" *silence | | | | *says something stupid and unfunny about wrestler She's fine for interviews, but keep her the hell away from commentary.

Forget that she actually makes me appreciate the matches more Albert and Renee are amazing as a duo
They know how to announce, how to promote, and how to catch attention in general I hope those two become the main Raw announcers with no interference in due time

The only thing I dislike about Renee is that she relies a lot on asking questions to keep the conversation going - which continually gives the impression that she cannot give us authoritative insights into the action. She has the presence, and can do a great job on the character/angle side of things, but she has a few interviewer habits that she needs to break.

I'm ok with the questions because she's not a wrestler so she's asking wrestlers questions about what's going on in the ring. I think it's a nice touch.

Would him as GM mean he'd likely spend more time training behind the scenes? Since, as said, he doesn't need to be out there as much.

I'm somewhat unnerved by how Regal's commentary-to-GM run parallels Booker T's from 2011/2012. Am I to expect Lord William reciting scripted banter pre-PPV/pre-RAW come next year? Does this company actually associate the two in terms of skill?

I didn't like Regal as much as others seemed to on commentary. I think he would make a great manager...
