Here it is for those that want to read something over the Summer but don't have a clue as to what to read or else they'd like some suggestions.
The "Otherland" series by Tad Williams is a great place to start, it's a long series (Probably 5k+ pages, all in all) but an incredible story with tremendous character development and possibly the best ending to a book/series that I've ever read. I was actually in tears at some points in the series, it's very very good. It's a combination of Sci-Fi and Adventure, with a dash of Mystery thrown in. If you like Adventure books or movies you will probably like this one.
The "Deathstalker" series by Simon Green. Ignore the new books. IGNORE THEM. Go for the original series and you won't be disappointed, it's a sci-fi action/adventure that just doesn't stop moving and grooving.
The "Hawk & Fisher" series, also by Simon Green. A very healthy splash of humor in a world of magic & cold steel. It's very well-done.

I would recommend the Thomas Covenant Chronicles by Stephen Donaldson (7 books and growing), the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb (leads into the Live Ships Trilogy and then the Tawny Man Trilogy) and Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time all within the adult side of the Fantasy genre. But be warned these books are typically 7-800pages each. I also like Robert Rankin for comedic fantasy (that is normally set in the town of Brentford).
