Seems there are enough people here who are actually more find of Sting's surfer dude days than of his Crow gimmick. To some extent I agree that his best work was during that period, while the Crow was when he reached his most prominent. Given the the fact that Vince did try repeatedly to woo Sting, and all the buzz generated by how it now seems impending, I figure thus is a good question: when could you have pictured surfer Sting in the WWF? Is there any period before he adopted the Crow look that would have been as good as if he had jumped once he adopted the Crow look?
For me, there is really only one ideal time: the New Generation. Sting in WWF st that time would have been a great potential opponent for Razor Ramon's IC title, or for Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels for the title. And as time wire on I could have seen him working against heel Goldust or even Mankind. Any other thoughts?

July 4, 1993. No one was able to slam Yokozuna. Helicopter flies in. Not Hogan. Not Luger. Slams Yoko and we move from there.

Definitely that general 93-96 period, where he was kind of drifting around a little bit (particularly 95-96). I know he would've fit in very well to the WWF, with his bright colourful look and high-energy style. I'm sure he could've done good work with Diesel as champ, for one.

Cmwaters just painted an amazing image in my head there. If Sting debuted in 93 by slamming Yoko, Jesus that would have been epic.

I didn't know people would rather have that Sting, but I like Crow Sting way better.

Would have been a great option for WWF in that period really. If Luger had been in the same period, would have made for a good mixture to the main event as well.

It's hard to believe how history has kinda underrated Sting's work from 88-94

Everyone in the WWF would still turn on him.

McMahon: "So you're a surfer, huh? Okay, I'm seeing that. You'll come to the ring with a surfboard. Can you do a valley guy accent like that kid in that Fast Times movie I caught Shane watching? Yeah, that's it! We can get all your catchphrases on foam fingers, yeah! Gnarly and tubular and Kowabunga. Wait, is that last one trademarked or not. Somebody, find out! Yeah! 'Coming down the aisle, Sting the Surfmaster! You'll do this thing where you ride the other guy's back like a surfboard! Kids'll eat that up."

Surfer Sting is my favorite. Not a fan of Crow Sting at all. Sting slamming Yokozuna would have been so cool.

I feel that if Sting did make it to WWE, they should have thrown money at Muta as well to bring him aboard.
Especially from around 93-96, Surfer Sting and the Great Muta were at the top of their games and had chemistry unrivaled.

I also always thought Sting/Muta vs Taker/Kane would have been amazing.

Thank God for EWR/TEW.
I'm doing a Sting/Yoko feud.

Somehow, Sting ends up in ECW with a surfer gimmick, then starts caning people and drinking beers with the crowd.
