Not capitalizing on how hot Swagger was after his face turn for the feud with Rusev.
They had a series of really good matches together, but did nothing to move both up the card.

Nexus leader Wade Barrett: WWE Champion.
He was white hot in the build to Survivor Series, and had he won, you had a whole new angle with Cena where the entire locker room turns on Cena, even though he did the honourable thing. He has to go it alone in fighting th Nexus as nobody else in the locker room likes him anymore because he gave them the title (albeit cleanly). You go from there into finally getting the Cena vs Barrett main event at Wrestlemania. Considering how incredible their match at HIAC 2010 was compared to the Cena/Miz garbage from Wrestlemania 27, it wouldve been an upgrade. And then straight after, you can segue into Cena/Rock and carry on as is.

ECW wasn't a missed opportunity. It was going extremely well and they just canceled it in favor of NXT season 1. It didn't fail at all. In the long run, ECW did not fail. Based on the hype it was getting for coming back? HUGE disappointment in what we got. Hell people on this board would troll TNA fans saying how all the ex-ECW guys would leave TNA for the new ECW and it would be the death of the company.

Oh, another one is Christian as World Champion in 2011. He'd already proven on ECW that he was going to have show-stealing matches every night, and he had a lot of goodwill from the fans after Edge's emotional retirement and Christian's subsequent winning of the title. I get moving Orton to SmackDown to pop ratings, but why put the title on him right away? Give Christian a chance to run, and if it's a flop, THEN put the belt on Orton. There was no need to do it immediately. Definitely. The sheer feelgood factor of him winning, with Edge there watching, was one of those moments that reminds you why wrestling can inspire such love from fans. And then they completely ruined it less than a week later. Christian was over, he was credible, he was great in the ring and could get good matches out of anyone. Why have him drop the title to Orton? But another one is Christian in 2005. Again, he was over and putting on good matches. He was getting really good reactions, and looked to be heading in the right direction, as a potential main event star. But then the WWE killed his push and relegated him to irrelevance, which led to him deciding to quit and go to TNA.

WWE.com will do a similar list.
Somehow, Triple H will get a spot in the top three.

Alex Riley. Charismatic, very athletic for a guy of his size and body type, and as shown on commentary/pre-shows, perfectly capable of showing "personality" when given the opportunity. He should've been a solid midcard talent, but WWE didn't do enough to prepare him for that role. He sucked and WWE didn't do enough to make sure he didn't suck. And they never rewarded him for eventually getting better. Man, the first six months, the obsessive gay crush on Riley was funny, and your dedication to insert (pun intended) him into almost every f***ing discussion we have on this board was funny to, but you beat the shit out of the dead horse for too long, now you're just annoying. Riley sucks, he has no talent whatsoever. He's just a big incompetent vanilla dude that happens to have big pecs. You can fap to him all you want in the privacy of your teenager bedroom but please don't feel obliged to bring his name everytime someone ask who should have this gimmick or who should get pushed or is a wasted opportunity etc. We all have our little obsessions (i personnally think Cena ruins careers and that HBK faked his back injury) but come on! Sorry if that sounds a little arsh, but after two years of Rileyonanism i think i can voice my opinion

I think the guy gets a bad rap just because he just happens to be a "big guy with big pecs".

In the interest of full disclosure, I have a soft spot for Swagger. That said, I cannot agree more. They stumbled into a situation where Swagger was not only getting really over, but was having some really solid matches with Rusev. I don't totally hate Rusev winning the feud, but they could have at least not have made it so one sided.

That list was better than most of the lists people link to in threads.
I can't say I agree with Teddy Hart being a missed opportunity, especially when you could have gone with his cousin Harry Smith. Teddy probably got more chances than he should have due to his mother's maiden name. Harry Smith was not misused in my view when he was in WWE. Former creative members say they weren't even allowed to pitch ideas for him and that he was not to be brought back on the road.

Looking like AJ vs Paige might be worthy of that list. Take two of the most talented women in wrestling today-make on of them a long reigning, dominant champion on the main show? Check. Build the other as an intense, focused competitor who marches to her own drummer in development? Check. Fans speculating what a potential showdown between the two of them would be like and growing more and more eager to see it happen? Check. Long burning feud with epic build up to a top drawer pay off match? Why do that when we can toss it out for free in less than five minutes-twice!

I think WWE really screwed up by not putting the belt on HHH more, or giving him more mic time at the start of Raws.

Let's be honest - the entire Divas Division is a wasted opportunity. We already know what women's wrestling CAN be in WWE (See: Trish vs. Victoria vs. Jazz), but they just aren't trying anymore. I'm not entirely sure why, as those three women always held the crowd's attention rather than being considered a piss break.

Bingo....this really grabbed my interest, and I thought they could have gone far with Uber-American babyface Swagger, but for some unknown reason, it came to a screeching halt into a feud with Bo Dallas.
