Sure, I guess.
John Ritter isn't really replaceable, but it isn't like the movies were anything special.

With all this nostalgia, people are going to see that the 90s weren't really that great after all

Can't we just forget those movies existed?

I wonder if they can get Michael Richards to guest star and revise his role as The Bow Tie Killer "uncle Marty". I always think of that character when I watch the episode in which Kramer is accused of being the smog strangler.
Anyway I am still waiting for Stand Tuned the sitcom.

I don't know if I find the timing of this news ironic or just hillarous, but this news comes the same week we found out about the Adrian Petterson news and because of that corproal punishment debate is back in the news. I always wonder if this franchise was pro or anti corporal punishment.

WTF
If this was suggested in 1991 it would of made some sense because even though the films were terrible and in all probability it would of been godawful the first one was at least a hit but now 24 years later who would give a shit about it as the film and its sequels are largely forgotten and John Ritter has been dead for more than a decade.

Over 20 years too late.
I actually liked the Problem Child movies, though the best thing to come from them was this:

problem child was a comedy ? I thought it was the movie in which the kid from home alone was adopted by a family who had another son about the same age, & the home alone kid was pure evil who raised hell ( & killed ppl I think ) - or is that something totally different ?

At this rate, movie remakes are taking a third place in annoyance to Broadway shows based on movies and now the 90s nostalgia tour. That said...
New action/drama based on Hudson Hawk, please!!!!!

why not just launch it as "Bad Kid" and team it with "Bad Judge" instead?
