Well, maybe us New Jersey folk don't want WWE to talk about us.

North New Jersey is pretty much New York. South New Jersey on the other hand is all right. I say that coming from South NJ. Unless, of course, you come from a part of PA where you're constantly getting sneered at and looked down upon by Philadelphians. Then you'll hate South Jersey (which is pretty much Philadelphia) just as much as North Jersey.

Now, now, it's not that you're from a different part of PA that we look down on you.....it's because you're from a place that's not Philadelphia. Has nothing to do with Pennsylvania. More Earth in general.

Most American shows seem to hate New Jersey. I just watched a Futurama episode a few hours ago where they made a joke about hell being in New Jersey. I love that joke when Fry is looking for an apartment and the apartment shower says, "Technically it is in New Jersey" followed by a hard cut to the next scene.

It annoys me because as someone from New York, saying NY/NJ to me is saying "We're not going to the Garden, Coliseum, or Barclay's despite claiming it's NY"
Getting to those 3 is easy for someone from Long Island, getting to the Izod or Metlife Stadium is a pain in the ass

New York is far superior to New Jersey , Its far superior to most states, ok let me stop being so gentle, New York is superior to every city in America, every state in America- every city , province, island, town, village, municipality, tribe, county, commonwealth, Annex, Country, & Continent in the entire world. So when you are so close to such greatness- you have no choice except bow down to the king.

To be fair, the MLS also had the NY/NJ Metrostars for a while, before they became the New York Red Bulls. So it's not just Vince that has termed it this way.

Quick history lesson: historically, the colony/state of New Jersey has had a state legislature dominated by rural, and later suburban, political interests. Due to this, New Jersey's various urban centers often suffered, which hurt in potentially crafting a standalone New Jersey identity that didn't involve saying "New York in the north, Philly in the south".
Even today, with areas like Hoboken and Jersey City expanding and getting a ton of new residents, some people still refer to the area I live in as "The Sixth Borough", which is obnoxious as all hell.
Honestly, I'd never want to live in Manhattan, and most of these companies (WWE, NFL, MLS, etc.) just want to be able to show images of the Empire State Building when hyping their broadcast, so they throw NY in there.
Quick thing, though: the majority of people in North Jersey do not commute to NYC. Plenty do, obviously, but very far from a majority.

Man, people hate on Jersey way, way too much. There's tons of great things in and about the state: The Kevin Smith universe, some Bruce Springsteen songs, Ted Leo, Titus Andronicus, the Bouncing Souls/Lifetime/the awesome punk scene, The Sopranos, the boardwalks, NJ pizza, etc.

I just want to add that I absolutely hate it when a team is the NY/NJ something or anothers. Just pick one and run with it already.
