There have been some weird typos over the years. Weirder yet is how blatant misspellings work out.

Not a Flair example, but magazines used to spell Luger with an a, as in "Lex Lugar" and Bret Hart was spelled "Brett Hart", but I do believe I have seen those on tv as well, so for some reason, a spelling change was made It drove me crazy how in Mick Foley's first book (and maybe the second one) Bret's name was spelled "Brett" throughout. I'm guessing that could be a product of proof reading and the proof reader or auto correct thought that would be the correct spelling. Having read many wrestling books, more-so the self published types, you find a lot of misspelling of wrestlers names which has to be due to the previous reasons. The funniest is seeing the named spelled one way and in the same chapter it's spelled differently. As for "Rick" Flair, it's crazy that one of the biggest stars, and probably the biggest of the NWA, had his named spelled incorrectly. I think the worst has to be Vince McMahon's LJN toy being listed as "McMann." The guy probably signed the contract with the company and his name is spelled wrong. Bret's name was spelled as "Brett" and I do believe, as someone noted, his name was spelled that way for a short time.

I'm pretty sure that Flair used Rick in his very early days. Although that shouldn't mean a thing in the late 80s.

I think in his first book Chris Jericho said he was billed as "Chris Cherrycoo" or something like that on one of the early indy shows where he apepared.
Can't wait for Sammy Zayne to get his callup.

Seeing that "Rick Flair" display while watching it as a kid, I thought to myself, "This is a perfect example of why they're the distant #2 promotion."

I've recently bought a replacement soft cover version of Have a Nice day and its Bret. I don't know when they corrected but I just checked it out

Slightly off topic, but wow... I saw Rick Flare on the Legends of Wrestling episode last night about important moments... never can I remember wanting to throttle a pro wrestler more. What a arrogant, condescending craphole.

I've seen Kimala quite a bit, but 'Kamala' seems the more official spelling for WWE and WCW.

I noticed when Batista debuted as Reverend DVons muscle his name was spelt 'Bautista' but once he was repackaged as a member of Evolution the U was dropped.

Reportedly Vince like the sound of the name, but hated when people pronounced it 'BOW-tista.' I guess dropping the 'u' made the name more like how Vince liked hearing it. Vince used to hate when Eddie Gurerrero called him 'Bautista' like the name is traditionally pronounced.

When I was little I created a comic book character named Reek Flair. Basically it was Ric Flair with really bad BO.

Dunno how that happens, but I remember the AWA shows from the late 80's always misspelling guys' names. They spelled "Teijo Khan" more ways than I can count. My favorite was when they just got lazy and spelled it "T-Joe Khan". "The GREAT T-Joooooe Khan!"

Cant be bothered to find the screen cap, but one one graphic for a match with Brian Pillman back in 1991, they mispelt it "Flyin Brain"

Guerrero was mentioned above and it's worth noting that there never seemed to be a concise way to the way 'Eddie' was spelt. Pre-WWE he was just a regularly 'Eddy' as he was 'Eddie'. I still tend to favour the 'Eddy' spelling, I must admit.

WCW may have at some point used the spelling 'Eddy,' but they settled in on 'Eddie' and WWE also used 'Eddie.' This was likely done as WCW felt they needed to Anglicize the names of some of the Luchadors. They also did this with Rey Misterio, Jr. (Mysterio) and Psicosis (Psychosis).
