I think the biggest news here is that there are Black people in Alaska. Good, I didn't want to be the first one to say it, haha. I was surprised when I saw the video.

When the footage of the "blood and guts television" clip turns up, nothing else could be called an "epic quit".

How can you terminate someone who quit? Given my understanding of it, when you quit a job unless you can provide a good reason for not giving a notice period employers are within their rights to classify the ending of your employment as a termination. Years ago when I worked for Safeway (way back before they became Morrisons) I tore my quad on the job and was obviously unable to work for a period. Despite a being signed off and the fact that I was undergoing regular physiotherapy to rehab my leg, they cut off my sick pay after three weeks as the manager believed I was well enough to resume my duties in the stock room. I offered to come back and work the checkouts until I had finished physio (which was still going against doctor's orders, as I was told not to go back to work for at least six weeks) but the manager basically said stock refill or nothing and that I was put on the rota for the next week. So I quit on the spot, and immediately applied to Jobseeker's Allowance while I looked for a new job. When my application was being processed I was told I could not claim as Safeway had told them I was still employed, and sure enough a day or two later I received a letter from Safeway requesting I attend a disciplinary hearing over going AWOL, for which they later fired me for. Now I realise that was pretty much the manager f***ing with me, and I probably could have made a claim for unfair dismissal (though I was in my final year of college, so I didn't feel it was worth making a huge fuss over), but the employer holds all the cards when it comes to how you left your job is reported to those who employ you next.
